lol why its beautiful!

I went to Edinburgh last year it was a great trip (very cold though would only go July/August if I went again).... but that was a city, that of course everyone knows. I don't fancy going all that way just to go to some place in the sticks though! LoL I can go to the sticks here without the travelling.

Voted hot.. simply because after looking up hotel details, it looks a decent hotel. And £40 a night for a good hotel really isn't a lot at all..

personally I wont be going, because it is very far away, and without a car it would be tricky.

However I searched and there are rooms available to book for £40.. so has to be hot

It is stunning countryside and wonderful culture - but dreadful weather; still friendly people and a good hotel can help you forget that.

IIRC May can be one of the better months

Pitlochry is gorgeous, lovely walks (all very well signposted and colour-coded) around the surrounding area including round Loch Tummel and Ben Vrackie. The climb up Ben Vrackie (about 850m) gives you some incredible views over the valley and Loch, then over the north side of the hill you see the start of the Cairngorm Massif.

There are lots of lovely places to eat in the town and if you're in the area then I'd recommend heading up to Queens View (you can drive straight to it without any hillwalking) for some stunning views, also a walk up Schiehallion is recommended if you have time.

The last time we were up that way on our way back we stopped off at the Fortingall Yew and the Crannog Centre, both very interesting, there's also the longest Beech Hedge which was featured on the 'Remarkable Trees' series, the leaves would be starting to come out right now.

Voted hot, not just for the deal, but for the extra information on what would otherwise (for me) be an unknown place in Scotland which certainly looks worthy of a place on an itinerary

Pitlochry is gorgeous,

I'll second that. Had never been until a few years ago and been back a few times since.

Pitlochry is very nice and it's pretty central to lots of other places if you have a car. Think there's a train station in the town too from memory. Some nice whisky distileries nearby. Edradour is worth a visit on a sunny day even if you don't like whisky.

And I've only had bad weather once in about 5 visits to Scotland. Guess I've been lucky.

thanks for that, heat & rep added

Ooh, forgot about Edradour Distillery, it's actually on one of the colour-coded walks (the yellow one I think) and it's a lovely walk where you get a side view of Ben Vrackie and if I remember correctly it takes you past the warterfalls at Black Spout, yup it's the one I was thinking of:

The Ben Vrackie walk is detailed here:

Just pick a nice day and the views will be stunning!
