Mercifully, it has a 3.5mm headphone jack (if that matters to you) OnePlus actually explain why, here

£499 from their official website oneplus.net/uk/…-5t

The negative stuff out the way: No MicroSD slot, though, and no water resistance, on-screen recent apps/home/back buttons, rather than capacitive buttons - for the first time. No wireless charging.

Can you trust gear best with such an expensive phone? Also would there be …Can you trust gear best with such an expensive phone? Also would there be import charges?

I get hit with charges from all the Chinese sites.
My advice would be to find a student and ask them to log into student beans and you get 10% Off @ Oneplus website.for 20 quid more than this deal.

When buying from China, By the time you've finished with import duty, taxes and Royal mail handling fee this is an expensive way to buy a phone.

Some say it's a lottery buying from China. But would you really risk paying 400+ quid for slowest unregistered post that you can't track to save 20 quid?

Oh and then there's warranty.....send it back to China if there's a fault.

Sorry...cold on all Chinese deals for me.

Personally, I'm not sure I would, but not everyone thinks as I do. I would assume taking Shipping Insurance would offer you more protection - though most recommend buying with a credit card - not sure about Paypal protection.

With import charges it's never an absolute guarantee you won't get stung, but the safest way is to avoid DHL and choose the slowest mail option.

I've never been hit with customs charges from my orders from China.

I agree I wouldn't risk spending £400+ from Gear best or other Chinese sites though.
Sigh, This Is Not Expired

I don't know if a mod edited the Deal link when I went to bed last night, but the Email Special price was there when I submitted this Deal...but it had changed to the "normal" link, somehow, overnight.

Ten minutes ago I highlighted that I changed the link back to the Email Only link at £429.04 (obviously change currency from USD to GBP, to get this price).

I commented highlighting this and also made a comment at the top of the Deal post - yet it's still being marked as Expired (?!)

Hi Thanks for Info update.
I managed 2 purchase at the price you originally posted £429.04.
Sooooo fingers crossed. . Thanks
Personally, I would rather pay the extra £70 and get it from O2 or Oneplus direct. I currently have the Oneplus3 and I am waiting for this to come down on contract with O2.

EVERY order you get caught with customs? Or you have experience of customs charges with every Chinese site you've used - then you've realised why? You're either very unlucky or you're choosing a quicker mail option - you don't state clearly what your experience is.

That's the first time I've ever seen anyone say this - if you mean every Chinese order you've made, slow mail or fast, has incurred customs charges.

I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but it hasn't happened to me when I've chosen the slowest postage option?

I last received an order from Gearbest (Singpost Unregistered - but with Shipping Insurance), last Friday - handed to me by my postman.

Super hot, *but* not sure I would risk from this seller

Yep I always order from gearbest, geekbuying and banggood.

Usually TV boxes when new better versions than the one I own come out.

Slowest postage, sometimes to work sometimes to my home address.
Never through express DHL or Ups and always been hit with a card asking me to pick it up from the post office nd pay my charges.

Funny thing is if I order on eBay from Chinese sellers, even gearbest via eBay I don't get hit. Slightly more expensive but at least I don't take a hit on customs charges.

Think they have me marked as an export cheat even though I've never managed to cheat it.... Hey ho
Does anyone know if this will come with a UK adaptor?
In the last year or so I've done about a grand on the different Chinese sites, my money and other people's, and I've literally never had a problem with shipping from China... I always use the non-courier delivery option, except with eGlobal Central who give you insured, tracked UPS delivery anyway, and my orders normally arrive in about a month. Less in most cases

Basically if you can wait for your items and want to make a saving, they're fantastic! One company I use through eBay put out a nice little message to its customers the other day from its CEO saying how that once Brexit is done, all Chinese mail will be sent here to the UK directly, no longer having to be routed through Europe, as is the case now. He predicts normal mail to be here in under two week, which will be nice. God bless Brexit!

And have some heat OP, I've got a Oneplus 5 and they're fantastic phones... personally I'll be waiting for a 6/7 but when I do buy, rest assured it'll be from China. And probably here in under two weeks by that stage
Great phone but I would advise you to buy from oneplus or O2
Ive never been hit by charged either and ive been buying stuff from China for years only last week took delivery of a Xiaomi MI Max2 for about £160, i usually buy TV boxes and cheap tat like E-cigs but i dont think id ever risk £400+. Its not just import duty which would make this a expensive phone its the warranty if it went wrong and lets face it most things do now a days you are left with a nightmare to get it sorted, you either end up being without the item for months on end or it going missing in the post or you end up taking the hit and being left with a expensive paper weight. Im affraid cold from me its not worth the risk. I bought a £50 e_cigarette a couple of months back from fasttech and it was faulty when it arrived and i had a right game getting anything done they told me to take it to a local store for repair which i explained was crazy then they told me to ship it back to them in the end i opened a paypal claim and ended up taking a $30 refund for a £50+ item and i kept the junk. It was a expenive eye opener.

What's this phablet bull issh?

Assuming you're being serious - it's from Gearbest's description, and "phablet" is a term that's been around probably since the first Samsung Note came out. Means, phone/tablet hybrid. But it's not worth getting upset over

No, I wasn't being serious - but thanks for humouring me! I was wondering why it was being referred to as a phablet as it's nothing like imo. I own the 5t and it's not even as big as an iPhone + model.

Mine turned up today, no extra charges - very happy with the deal, £70 off!
Waited 3 weeks for this 2 arrive.and it was delivered today by Royal Mail and the parcel was empty apart from some packing 😡 I should have known better than ordering from China.
Ouch! That's real bad luck. The customs label was for 20USD!! Hopefully you'll get your money back though.

I've bought a couple of things from gearbest without issue now, I'd be happy to use them again.

Not that it's ever happened to me (though I don't order much from Gearbest/Banggood/China in general) but I have seen a few threads on HUKD where this has happened. techtablets.com/for…ed/

There's a reason why I *shook* my parcel after I took it off my postie (though my postman must have thought I was mad).

Was your parcel tampered with? The Axon 7 I got earlier in December came in double grey polythene bags, and the phone box itself was cellophaned, delivered by Royal Mail.

I think people are trying to determine whether couriers are more risky or the UK company that handles Gearbest parcels (as I understand it, I think this company receives drop-shipped parcels that come via Belgium/Europe before relabelling them for UK post)?

It seems a bit ridiculous to video every package you receive (as some advise) because it just isn't possible in some cases.

Credit Card Chargeback or Paypal Dispute is the way to go, I think - Gearbest will just keep stalling you endlessly, from what I've read.
