That is so hit and miss. You are more than likely have to pay the import duty on this.

hot "uk" deals

It's a deal available FOR the UK so what's your problem?

Then the deal should include import duties in the headline price. Rather than comments about how to avoid those. It's the old one where you always see on some Amazon or Starbucks deals the comments around "wouldn't buy from them they don't pay tax", then the same people ask how to avoid paying import duties on deals from abroad.

Can you call the emergency services with it yet ? hahah

Can you disable someone's £1000+ iPhone by texting them a single character? Yes? Oh and it's not the first time?!

Amazing!

So they pay all import charges too?
So it's the black version with 6gb/64gb? I was getting excited thinking it was the white version.. Sadly not, the white version is £435

I bought a Xiaomi Mi5 when they first came out from AliExpress, paid for DHL tracking, had to pay customs (although they'd marked it as only having a value of £80), my brother ordered the same phone for the same price but had the free shipping and didn't have to pay customs. It's depends if they catch it, but you will always pay it with DHL - which could make this phone quite a bit more expensive if you have to pay the import charges

Great price...not sure what duty would be put onto it if it's checked.
I'm holding out for the 6 model but this is a great phone.

pretty good deal. Aliexpress normally have good cashback offers too
Brilliant deal, but this is the bit I'm not keen on, is you scroll through...

"1.We open the box to check every phone carefully, install multi-language ROM and Google Play Store of it. The customized Rom is not perfect, not support OTA update, not 100% in your language, some of apps and settings are still in English or Chinese. We may update the ROM,so the OS version may different from the screenshots."

I would be wanting my phone still to sealed from the factory, and not to be touching it.

Also they claim it to have "Global Firmware" installed on the device, but then are now saying it won't get any over the air updates???

I'm no expert in this field, but sounds like they are installing a dodgy version of Android which has the language support for foreign users outside of China and the Play Store has been enabled. BUT not the official One Plus software and what ever software it is, is what you are stuck with for life.

It then raises the question of Malware, or have I been reading to many conspiracy comments in HUKD?!

Yes they have put their own firmware on it from the sounds of it.

You can flash the standard global firmware and get OTA as normal. Anyone buying from this seller should ask them to leave it on the Chinese firmware and then just flash it yourself.

you could probably flash the official rom pretty easy once you get the phone which is what i would be doing if i bought one
I would be careful with phones from aliexpress as I bought a Samsung s6 when they first came out. it was advertised as genuine Samsung s6 but wasn't and the phone itself was rubbish as most apps etc didn't work on it and the phone was overheating, crashing, wireless didn't work properly and so on.

saying that a friend of mine bought a different one from there and it still wasn't genuine but worked ok.

I'd pretty much decided on the Mi Mix 2 or Mi Note 3 & then this deal came up & made the decision harder!! Really unsure now

That used to work on everything years ago, it doesn’t any longer. If they do pull it then you’ll be hit with import charges and VAT plus an admin charge from the delivery company. As for value it’s RRP value they will use so putting £1 on it won’t work. A lot still get through and for low value items it’s worth the risk, but high value items it’s not worth risking, especially as they are checking more stuff than ever to catch people out.

i have the oneplus5 and its a hell of a phone so this will be too if you get it on the right firmware
What ever configuration these chinese companies come with, and what ever price these people throw those at, still can't beat the quality of samsung and iPhone.
And Samsung and iPhone - with their prices (for example iphone x costing 1000) is all a NO BUY for their pricing. Will we ever get a balanced piece of mobile device ???!?!!?

It's Android though, so just flash it and put the Oxygen ROM on. Although, I'm with you on it being sealed and untouched. Does the price difference make it worth it? Not for me, but a good find anyway
I got clobbered with import charges from Ali Express.
Never again

Goods purchased from outside of EU
Product RRP + UK Duty at 3.5% + Cost of shipping to UK = sub total

Then VAT @ 20% on sub-total

£406 for this if you need to pay tour dues. Plus whatever handling/collection fee the courier charges.
