Poor camera, no LED notification light, no headphone jack and a slower fingerprint sensor?! Think I'll pass!
It's a shame that OnePlus reduced the student discount for an device from 10% to 5%. A year ago when buying 5T I got 10% off the actual device, which was a nice and noticeable difference.
10% was weak, 5% is pathetic.
What students can afford a £475 phone these days when they are indebted with student loans to tens of thousands of pounds.

Is it possible to join with a Student union card ?
It is possible to buy a .edu email on sites like ebay. I did that for my student beans and unidays. Also if you can't figure it out you can get £20 off with this

Do yourself a favour on this phone. Check out the screen protector options and if it's anything like the 5T you'll end up with the official one. Just consider buying 2 of the official screen protectors whilst you can as it's proved impossible for me to buy an official 5T for over 6 months

How did you get unidays?
unidays I made my account using the .edu email like i did the others but they asked for extra verification before they would approve the account but 2 days later it had been approved without me giving them anything else

Yeah I was looking forward to the under screen fingerprint reader so much - thought if it was OnePlus doing it they would definitely make it fast but it's looked pretty slow in all videos on Youtube that I've seen so far... (LTT and MKBHD)

they cant afford 475 thats why you see nearly every student with a bit of common sense with a latest iphone (insert sarcastic look and urge to punch them in a face here)

A lot of them do. You'd need to research it.

Well a first year student would be about 12k in debt minimum. An extra 500 seems trivial when it’s like that.
Does this phone have NFC and wireless charging?
NFC yes, wireless charge no.

(Typing this on a Oneplus 3 at the moment).

I remember the glory days of the OnePlus 3 - the phone that launched them into the limelight - a £600 spec phone for £309.
Those were the days (not so long ago: bought a week before the EU referendum vote) - when that was OnePlus' unique selling point as mid-range Kings, and they were hailed and applauded for it. But they lost sight of their unique selling point, got greedy & too big for their boots and put their phones up to £400+ and then up to £500. Now they are just another overpriced high end phone manufacturer. Sad, they could of dominated with their old strategy.

Compare my £309 spec to OnePlus' latest and dare anyone to find something that is worth OnePlus nearly doubling the price.

My £309 Oneplus 3 has a great camera, an LED notification light (customisable by colour and app), a headphone jack and an instantaneous fingerprint sensor!.

How is it OnePlus phones are losing features yet nearly doubling the price?
Edited by: "SimyJo" 30th Oct 2018
Not sure about this phone rather go with Samsung or Sony. YouTube is spamming with sponsored reviews. Don't trust that brand.

It's such a seemingly small thing but I can't be doing with a phone without a notification led (and preferably a colour one - Xiaomi/Pocophone take note!)

If this had a better camera and wireless charger, Samsung would be out of business
