I hate all these curved screens cause you cannot find good screen protectors for them that stay on properly. Hope they go back to flat....

I would take the 7 pro

Superior Display
No notch
Superior SOC, Kirin 980 is worse than the 855
This phone can have Gcam installed which massively improves the camera, the mate 20 pro can't even do 4k60 recording thanks to the kirin 980
Superior Software, EMUI is lackluster while OxygenOS is considered by many to be the best skin you can get currently on Android
I don't like the sound of the box being opened and pre flashing.
1. Being sent a dud
2. Malware.
Personally If I went down this road, I would get the factory tool and reflash a factory image.

Good price, but ensure you pay via a credit card, with the exact matching statement address & phone number, as your AE account has on it

What's the difference between the "international" model you see in some deals and the Chinese model flashed with OxygenOS? Just that the ROM was factory installed?

What charger do these typically come with?

I think the Chinese models have Hydrogen OS which doesn't have Google apps or services (such as the play store). Oxygen OS has these.

If anyone is on the fence about the OP7 Pro.. don't be, best phone I've used in years

No. Only the Oneplus 7 PRO 5G variant is which is currently exclusive to EE

Comes with a chinese charger however most sellers will provide you with a adapter.

The chinese variant comes with a HydrogenOS which is only found in china. It lacks any Google services as they are banned in china and comes with extra apps designed for only china.

What many sellers do is take this chinese version and then flash the OxygenOS which is found globally. The phone acts exactly like a global one with no faults when compared to a proper global version

Gcam improves the camera slightly from being crap. It will still be nowhere near the Mate.20 pro that made short work of the Pixel 3's

OOS is full of bugs and people say what they are paid to say.

Emui has the best file system out there and Huawei are 2 year off surpassing the SD SOC. They have from being 2 platforms behind to being first on a platform within 3 years.
The Kirin is better than the SD at number crunching and when they have completed their GPU, watch out.

4k 60 on the 7Pro has robotic panning caused by the EIS and heaving crop to get stability.

Same screen bar the 90hz you can only use in UI that has km latency and ghost touches.

The Notch has 3d scanning making faceunlock secure and the Mate 20 pro beat every SD855 in performance mode.
Battery life Mate 20 Pro easily.
Charging Mate 20 pro easily.
IP certification
QI
Reverse QI
20 mp front cam
Video recording on wide
Video recording on Zoom
Genuine 3 x Zoom lens and not 2.2 x with crop

The Mate 20 Pro was release in 2018 and is still well in advance of the OP7 Pro when you strip away the hype.
An absolute steal at £40 less.

Me too. It is too gimmicky and really serves no purpose other than aesthetics. It is a PITA when it doesn't have a case, but finding a case for it is also a PITA. You can see the light bleed on the edges when looking at black scenes, and worse of all, trying to swipe/touch on a video slider/pause button which happens to almost always be on the curved part of the screen makes me want to throw my phone as hard as I can to the ground. Don't even get me started with the distorted image you get on the edges when watching videos/photos. And when you break one, the screens are a very expensive replacement. Go back to flat panels please. I've had enough. Unfortunately all the top phones have this feature, and you cannot run away from it. Someone needs to start a petition!

When comparing any android phone with the oneplus, it's typical for people to compare hardware, however people sometimes fail to understand the difference in the OS. OxygenOS is by far the best variant of Android available. It's even more optimised than stock Android.
Great phone at a good price but that's a lot of money to have no warranty.

My brother got the Mate 20 Pro second hand from that ebay 20% off deal for £350. Compared to my P30 Pro it is a better phone, the only place it loses is with P30 Pros 4 camera system. My mum has an s10+ and I much prefer the Huawei OS, maybe because I come from a Xiaomi device. I wanted to like the OnePlus, but they cut a lot of corners for the price they were asking for - no wireless charging, cropped 2.2x, rest of camera so so... and the biggest deal breaker was lack of IP rating. I killed my last 2 phones from getting a light splash (my hobbies include a lot of water activities/outdoors). Don't get me wrong, Oxygen OS looks great, but for me it is the last thing I look at in a phone. They're all in the Android ecosystem and that is good enough for me.

What phone you talking about?
I never seen any light bleed on my Super Amoled screen.
Distorted edges? Do you have a screensaver on it or are you talking about a very early edged screen. As I don't see that on my Super Amoled screen either.

The slider close to the edge. That does take a little time to get use to, just like the fod"s but I wouldn't say it made me want to smash my phone or anything like that.

The only purpose it serve is aesthetics, but isn't that what sorts the wheat from the chaff. Having picked up a flat screen the other day, the bezzles down the side are now a real turn off.

If you look at a blank white screen (not black my bad), at certain angles on the edges you can see a greenish almost holographic looking band on the edge. For black scenes you have this constant reflection just where the edges drop and it is annoying, and I use my phone mostly out and about so the only time when you can't see reflections on that edge is in a dark room. I mean even under bright situations, it doesn't even matter anymore, go outside use the phone under daylight and that glare/reflection on the edge is constant. Doesn't annoy most people but it does me. I have a P30 pro, a curved edge means you have a curved image towards the end and basically you have a compressed image look when staring straight on. Maybe I'm just too much of an engineer, aesthetics without function on a device like this.... for me is just a pet peeve. I can see why people like them though, it looks sleek, But living with one is a completely different experience, each to their own i guess.

Sd 845 is 10nm
Kirin 980 is 7nm

Dunno why your talking about EMUI 8.1, when 9 and 9.1 are out there. I've used OOS and oh boy the device was gone within a month, beta level at best.

The Kirin 980 murdered every SD845 with ease and as I said beat every SD855 first up this year. Nobody will run performance mode against the OP7 Pro, but I did see the 7 pro get hammered in a 50 app challenge by the Kirin 980 P30 Pro.
Only in graphic is the SD superior and alot of that is down to driver support.

Yes it is laughable that you made this comment after nearly every reviewer has said the same thing and the forum is still full of complaint about camera quality.

OP owners go mad for Gcam when half of the stuff it produces ain't even any good, it crashes, and so so video.
That is the true indicator of where the camera is at.

Is this what you call shredding against a 855? The mi 9 with a 855 and the s10+ with a exynos beat it.

The mix 3 with a 845 is only around 5% behind in performence in CPU but CPU wise it gets beaten by a 845.

And also performence mode on Huawei must be turned on manually and doubles battery consumption, essentially murdering any good chance of having good battery due it essentially just overclocking the chip, reducing energy effiency/

Only 1 second slower in the 2nd round which can be easily be considere margian of error. And this on a s10+, which oneplus phones have consistently beaten in speedtestsAnd don't forget the first 845 phones came out in feb/march while The kirin 980 was on the market in october. Only for Snapdragon to release the 855 around 3/4 months later

Lol Benchmarks all benchmark are stacked toward US SOC's with them optimised in the following order:
SD
Exynos
Kirin
This is why every year for last 3 years the Kirin score decreases
Exynos is static
SD increases by 40k+
Your geek benchmark didn't show the SD845 being on par with he Kirin 980, so let me clarify that.

The highest benchmarking 10nm SD845 with the highest bin.

Kirin 980

So even with the benchmark fully optimised for the SD it's way off.
The difference between the 10nm and 7nm platforms are the cortex cores, the are faster and more power efficient. That much is a computing fact and not some random scenario about AMD graphic cards
The Kirin 980 and the SD845 are not on the same page, so there is no need to continue with that one.

The SD855 has a superior GPU and there is very little difference on the CPU
Mr Phinebuff hasn't changed his apps much in years as they follow the same SOC optimisation trend but with one more added:
A Bionic
SD
Exynos
Kirin

Mate 20 v Mi9

Not much if a difference here between the SD855 and Kirin 980.
Not much of a difference here either.

Not much difference here either.

But this is my fav

With the A12 and Kirin being early 7nm, the Exynos being 8nm it will be very interesting to see how their replacements match up to the OC'd 855+ with a prime core for benchmarking and the extra 15% on GPU.
As I said the Kirin 980 is not in the same level as the SD845

Videos that show single app by side opening are literally useless

This video shows the 7 pro beating the p30 pro in opening app speeds.

The differences are miniscule and for each video you show me the Kirin 980 opening one app faster I can find another video which completely contradicts your statement. So using that as a "benchmark" isn't exactly good

What I saw was the OP using all its ram to aid speed to the point of not being able to recall many apps and thus clearly showing not much difference on the CPU.

You were talking about SD845 and the Kirin 980 being at the same level, now you have moved to the SD855

I wonder why

I believe the international models come with OxygenOS and not HydrogenOS
