HTX-22HDX 2.1 and SKS-22X 5.1 upgrade kit is available seperately for slightly lower prices elsewhere, but this is the lowest I could find for the combo from the same dealer and in stock. Try Richer Sounds for a price-match if you have one close to you.

If you already have a Blu-Ray player, PS3, XBOX, etc and only need Digital Surround Speakers/AV Receiver with three v1.4a HDMI inputs (and one output) then this is ideal. The AV receiver is integrated into the subwoofer so one less box needed under the TV.

The Ideal Compact Partner for Your Flat-Screen Display:

Movies and games look great on today’s widescreen TVs. But let’s face it, the audio from your typical flat-panel display leaves a lot to be desired. That’s where the HTX-22HDX steps in. In its basic 2.1-channel configuration, the HTX-22HDX gives you a combo subwoofer and A/V receiver plus two front speakers for stunning mid- and high-range audio. Connections? Check. Three HDMI® 1.4a inputs let you hook up a Blu-ray player, console, and cable/sat tuner. HDMI 1.4a is not only compatible with upcoming 3D video, it also lets you run an Audio Return Channel from your display’s tuner back to the receiver. Audio processing? Check. The HTX-22HDX handles HD formats from DTS and Dolby; offers four distinct audio modes for gaming; and includes Onkyo’s very own Theater-Dimensional. The latter creates an immersive and convincing surround effect through just 2.1 channels. Meantime, a new on-screen display makes it easier to adjust settings on the fly, so you can get back to the action sooner.

Special Features:

• Three 1080p capable HDMI inputs (v1.4a) supporting 3D video and Audio Return Channel
• Decodes the latest HD Audio formats from Dolby and DTS
• VLSC for Noise Free Audio Signals
• 4 DSP Gaming Modes: Rock, Sports, Action, and Role Playing

• supports 1080p full HD video, 3D, Audio Return Channel, x.v.Colour, Deep Colour, Lip Sync, DTS-HD Master Audio, DTS-HD High Resolution Audio, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, DSD, and Multi-channel PCM

Ok, I might as well get it over and done with...

Unknown brand walk away. Pay £20 more and get a Sony.

(I'm so sorry. Feel so ashamed, so dirty, must wash hands...)

Beat me 2 it again

Looks like a re-badged Alba.

Will probably sound like one too

Is it just me that thinks £300 is excessive for speakers? The one good thing I can think is that it'll be able to be carried over from TV to TV but my nice 28" hannspree was only about £230 so speakers more than the TV itself? I don't know but for me thats a lot to pay on just speakers Cold for me sadly.

I nearly posted the Onkyo HT-S5305B 3D Ready 5.1 AV Receiver and Speaker Package at amazon as a deal the other night at 30% off (down to £279) - probably worth a post on it's own merits as a bargain. amazon.co.uk/Onk…1-1. 9 reviews on amazon .. 5stars

Only really want 2.1 myself, but considering the OP's version of this or the one I've refeerenced and switching off the rears and centre (if that can be done?)

I know people who would not spend less than that on one speaker

I'm guesstimating the speakers are worth about £160 on their own (SKS-22X is about £80 so I am doubling up on that for all 6 speakers). The rest is for the AV receiver which is somewhat future proof as it supports 1080p full High Def video, 3D, Audio Return Channel, x.v.Colour, Deep Colour, Lip Sync, DTS-HD Master Audio, DTS-HD High Resolution Audio, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, DSD, and Multi-channel PCM.

I am getting the HTX-22HDX 2.1 part only and using my old surrounds. I'll be able to upgrade my very old receiver, and at the same time get rid of one more "box" from under the TV which pleases the "boss" no end. Its a win-win
