I think this is by far the best price available for this system. It's currently £300 @ Richersounds.

Whey aye. What you doing in the toon store anyway madmackem booo. Only joking.

Sorry I feel for anyone new to the community who isn't in on the little in joke so quick to jump in and offer genuinely sound adcive but still slightly concerned that a knowledgable community might some how have a vastly different opinion.

My apologies, just couldn't resist!

Unfortunatley its my nearest store as i live in Jarra (that or Smoggieland) :-(
Killed me being so close to Sports Direct @ St Skunks Park mind ;-P
Still cracking service from the staff in that shop.

I've been looking for a new surround sound system to go with the lovely HD telly I've got for a while. I'll be honest, until this little in joke that I've followed through all the threads, I'd never heard of Onkyo. Judging by the amount of sarcasm and the angry reaction of people who didn't know it was a joke.... I figured that they must be a good make. I did some reasearch as always, and ended up purchasing this system (Richer sounds price matched, and I got the same deal as Nobull above.) I'm very impressed with it so far, and the range of inputs on the back is huge compared to other systems in this price category.

So thanks to Loughborough Guy for introducing me to Onkyo, and the OP for this post!

Argh my mistake I didnt try the RS route, that would be even better value !

I've ordered, received and set up mine, all works a treat. Thanks so much OP.

I think this thread deserves a lot more heat !

awesome spot.. will try for the RS price match too..

it says £228.90 inc delivery now, wait till the weekend and it will be free

I'm also surprised this isn't hotter!

How would one go about asking RS for a price match? I dont know how these things work...

I went in asking about onkyo systems and said I was interested in this one in particular. The salesman told me about it,then happened to say 'You won't find it any cheaper, but if you do we'll price match.' (For this you need a print off of the page including delivery.) I produced it and they honoured it. If it doesn't come up in conversation just ask about their price match policy. They were very good to be fair.

i called up RS yesterday and he checked online while i was on the phone. Pixmania have it as 'in stock within 28 days' and for that reason he wouldnt offer a price match. anyone else had this problem? did your print out have the same? if it did i might go back and see if they'll change their mind. seems a bit petty to be honest as RS didnt have any in stock anyway and were going to have to order it down to my branch regardless.

Ah right. No it was in stock when I printed off the page. If I still had the screen shot I'd e-mail it to you! Just keep checking the pixmania site and get it printed off as soon as it's back in stock.

im fully aware of onkyo's place in the market, but it doesn't stop me thinking that it sounds like a pro-biotic yoghurt!

Very strange that Richer Sounds would price match with a company based in France!!

Do Pixmania sell stuff with UK sockets on them? I bought a camera from them a while back and it was a euro plug and manual in French, etc and they ignored my complaints about it.

Anyhoo, looks good this I'm tempted although would prefer a recognised brand

No longer in stock...shame as a good deal

Great budget system i purchased mine from currys £199 back in June i bought some better bassey floor standers instead of using the fronts which come with the hts set as the subwoofer not the best

I voted cold purely because I HATE PIXMANIA !!! - If I ever came across one of their employees I'd spit in their face.

Surely you mean plugs? For peanuts you can get convertors to convert them to UK no I dont mean those bulky things, but what clamp around them and look like a normal plug.

Great price and piece of kit! I regularly checked the price of this for a while before choosing the HT-S6305 and can say this is the cheapest price I've ever seen for it by a long way!

Go to any currys/pcworld to do it, they are they same group after all. You can't really blame the employees though they are just doing as they are paid to do.

Doesn't appear to support 1080p?

People turn away from Amp/receiver threads when they see lots of cobblers written about an old joke, and not peoples experiences of the goods.

Fair point. Though they belong to the same group, Curry's and PC World don't behave like pixmania as they know they cant' get away with it. Whereas pixmania are a law unto themselves. My blood boils everytime I see a pixmania deal on here.

I bought the speaker kit to go with my Sony, the sound is very good but I cannot for the life of me stop the woofer from auto shutting off whilst watching TV. Very distracting clunk from the relay.

Shame.

That said, when its on proper the earth moves baby

Shouldnt that be Onkyo threads rather amps and receivers?

Anyway its quite the opposite for me I only open them to see how long it is before someone mentions loughboro guys mistake.
