...but are there any AV receivers that don't look like a sofa still sound good and don't use loads of electricity?

Sounds like you need to be looking at Sonys

Good if someone can afford

I thought it was a piano

Laugh,I nearly started. Same old, same old "joke". Give it a rest,it wasn't even funny the first 89,000 times.

Bit steep for a generic unknown brand.

Can any of the cold voters point out a similar quality 11.2 set-up for close to this price? I couldn't find any.....

hadly generic and unknown. now the point would be if your spending 2k on a receiver, how much will you end up spending on the speakers!

Lol ignorance is bliss

Every AV amp thread is the same. I'm assuming most of the comments are joking.?

My current Receiver cost £2500 (Yamaha DSP-Z7). Rule of thumb suggests same amount for speakers although I am still using cheaper ones...

lets hope so, lets hope he knows his av brands before opening his mouth

I have the Onkyo TX-NR636 which I thought was expensive but compared to this it was a bargain. Must say though the Dolby Atmos with these systems is brilliant. I was a bit unsure at first as I was using my Xbox One for blurays but after buying a dedicated player the difference is amazing. Would recommend any Onkyo with Atmos.

What movies have you watched that are Atmos?

Is it real leather?

I like it

Well I've not seen any actual Atmos blurays but I have however tested the official demos (look for 'TrueHD 7.1 Atmos' under the Sound column). For normal blurays I read it estimates and sends audio data through to the ceiling channels. Which does make movies sound impressive even though its may not be Atmos (Not even sure which films have it tbh). Though like I mentioned before, using a bluray player compared to the Xbox makes an immediate difference.
