With comprehensive networking and the new InstaPrevue source switching, the Onkyo TX-NR414 packs a lot in for a budget AV receiver.

UNRIVALLED NETWORKING ABILITY

At its price, the Onkyo TXNR414 is simply unrivalled for networking ability. Connect via Ethernet or use an optional Onkyo dongle to join your wireless network. From here you'll be able to access a massive range of Internet radio stations plus cloud-based music servers such as the hugely popular last.fm and Spotify. In addition to this, DLNA certification ensures it's easy to stream music from your laptop or PC. Added together, this streaming flexibility makes the TXNR414 much more than just an AV receiver, it makes it a complete music server.

CLASS-LEADING CONTROL INTERFACES

Like many of its rivals, the Onkyo TX-NR414 features the option of an app based control. Available free for either Apple or Android devices, the control app lets you use your smartphone as a clear and comprehensive controller. Unlike others, however, the TXNR414 also features InstaPrevue. This innovative new technology uses the HDMI connections to preview other sources via picture-in-picture. Brilliant for seamless source switching, InstaPrevue is a joy to use.

HIGH QUALITY SOUND THAT YOU'D EXPECT FROM ONKYO

With nearly 30% more power than the model below, the Onkyo TX-NR414 is a powerful performer. It's not just about power, either, it's about quality, too. The TX-NR414 also comes with Onkyo's WRAT (Wide Range Amplifier Technology). WRAT gives a more dynamic sound with a punchier bass response. Added to this is a discrete output stage. By using discrete (separate) components rather than an IC chip, superior quality components can be used for a more detailed sound quality. It's not just the amplifier technology that makes Onkyo receivers stand out. Burr-Brown 192/24 DACs for all channels, an advanced 32-Bit Processing Chip makes this an impressive sounding AV receiver on the digital side, too.

3D COMPATIBILITY AND PROCESSING POWER TO MATCH THE LATEST FORMATS

Featuring 3D compatibility and high definition decoding, the Onkyo TXNR414 is fully equipped to match the highest spec Blu-ray players. With 3D compatibility you can run your 3D Blu-ray player, PS3 and Sky 3D box via the receiver and in to your 3D compatible TV; all with the minimum of fuss. The latest and most powerful processing has always been at the heart of Onkyo's receivers, and the TXNR414 is no exception. It will handle high-definition lossless audio codecs from Dolby and DTS. This high resolution surround sound processing makes it the perfect partner for Blu-ray with all the potential for audio excellence this source provides.

SIMPLY THE BEST CONNECTIVITY IN ITS CLASS

It may be one of Onkyo's budget models, but this doesn't stop the TXNR414 from boasting a highly impressive six HDMI sockets. This is also the first model in the range to feature a passive Zone 2 output - perfect for music via active speakers in another room. Added to this are a wide range of other sockets including twin component inputs for older DVD players and four digital audio inputs. There's also a front-mounted USB socket. It might not look much, but this little socket will transform the sound quality from your iPod or iPhone. By connecting to the USB, you'll benefit from a digital connection. This gives a direct signal and, hence, purer sound quality than using a conventional dock or analogue input. If you don't have an iPod or iPhone, the USB socket will also accept music signals from other MP3 players or multi-media devices.

If you're looking for more than just a basic AV receiver but at an affordable price, the Onkyo TXNR414 brings new levels of sophistication to its market. And then some!

Onkyo? Sounds like a brand of bacon. I'd get something a bit more mainstream if only for the snob factor.

OI. This is a pretty good brand, i own a 5 year old Onkyo TX-SR805 i think (might be wrong) . cant check at present as at work.

Its a great reciever and touch wood, not had any problems thus far.

bargainking2, check ya facts before dissing Onkyo as their a decent affordable brand..

Do you mean like Technika?

Don't know much about these things but looks and sounds ok for price. Yes??

Why is everyone dissing Onkyo. It is not an unknown brand at all. If anyone of you knew anything about audio you would not make such ignorant remarks. Their stuff is as good as SONY and better than Technika...

Reel 'em in boys...

Actually this really annoys me, every bloody time an ONKYO product is posted people slate it off. I mean get over your obsession with SONY - the next person who slates ONKYO is gonna get if from me- seriously....they are a good company. I have some of their stuff and these kind of posts offend me greatly. I am fuming right now - do your research ...aaaarrrghhhh!!!

mikes1 - what are you on about? reel what in? In fact most of the people having a go at ONKYO don't even make sense. BACON? YOGHURT? better with BUSH? Reel em in? WTF are you guys on? Its Saturday night - go get some fresh air...

You didn't mention Alba, is this a conspiracy against them? What a travesty.

lmao at those who obviously have no idea what they are on about

Do we have to phone up our local branches to check for stock, is this a one off?

Should I throw it back or have it stuffed and mounted?

Okynawa ? Never heard of them. Sonyo all the way.

Surely it's time Loughboroboy made an appearance? He's normally quick to put the record straight these days...

Is there a comparable Aiwa available at this price?

A lot of irony has been missed in this thread. I can remember a time when I had never heard of Onkyo though. Saying that I can also remember when I hadn't heard of Bruce Springsteen. Both times were hard!

I've had to return my 2 Onkyo a total of 4 times all for basically the same issue which all Onkyo suffer (apart from the obvious unknown branding)

HDMI boards go a lot, they're great machines just take out the 5 year.......Waiting for a refund on my current Onkyo, gonna move to another brand,,,,,,maybe a known brand like Sumiko

Onky who?

Is this thread an initiation for the new members? haha.

ha ha ha ha .
as soon as I see anything onkyo posted I take a look just for the comments. brilliant.....
