Oink Yo-All, This is a decent amp for this price, its rare to get a THX certified amp less than £700. This was £650 back in 2018, so for £349 this is a fantastic price and let me assure you the discount is far greater than £20, this is £20 off the previous sale price, less than 12 months ago this was £650+, so considering the power & performance you get for the money, REMEMBER you are getting 165w of power per channel here, you will be hard pushed to find a Yamaha or Denon with this kind of power per channel for anywhere close to this price, not to mention THX certification, so with this in mind, even though its a Onkyo, this is a fantastic price.

Same price at HomeAVDirect with a FREE HDMI cable if your interested but only includes a 2 year warranty, same price at Peter Tyson to with 3 Year Warranty

Enjoy and have an Onk-Yo Great Night LOL

Shame I haven’t the funds for this right now. Too many phone purchases. 😬

Never read the sofa one yet. What is that one?

No, this is 5.1.2. I got the TXRZ730 which does, added 4 2nd hand denon speakers on my ceiling to my original setup, sprayed them magnolia so they blend in, and love it. For me if you're going for atmos, and you can... spend the extra couple of hundred to allow for 4 height channels and get a full 3d experience

Do Onkyo still have problems with the HDMI card?
They need to stick to making yoghurts.

Do Onkyo still have problems with the HDMI card?

I'd never buy an ONKYO again, too many issues on the core components in more than one model.

Plus the company seem to have changed hands and don't have a UK customer service presence anymore.
Been hovering round this price for a while. never really been that expensive.

Was considering upgrading my 626 as it's not HDMI 2.2 so lacks 4k HDR.......still undecided!

Just stick to Denon

Not nowadays no, still THX certification still keeps the price of AV receivers high, so for £349 this is decent enough, I've got some old THX demo disc's which are still cool to watch, I've got a Denon X2400H which I got for £299 last year, which apparently got a THX firmware upgrade, an amazing amp far more expensive 2nd hand now than when I got it brand new, so I won't be upgrading anytime soon.

A legend in his own lifetime....
I bought these for a similar price about eight months ago. Excellent system. Only one complaint... Built in Chromecast can take ages to connect.

Review is OK, but better Denon X2500H same price at Peter Tyson.
Can this drive headphones?

Remember though this review was published when the Onkyo was £500+ and the Onkyo does have a touch more power & THX certification, The Denon is award winning however, I have the previous X2400H which is fantastic.
Someone explain what this is

No as that's 9 channels plus an LFE, you're 2 channels short you'd need a 9.2 AVR for that
I had an old onkyo with the hdmi problem, but onkyo gave me the option of a brand new txnr 646 for £150 so was well chuffed. Has atmos, Spotify, WiFi etc, it's a fantastic amp

I wouldn't worry about the lack UK customer service as you'll be dealing with Richer Sounds not the manufacturer
Read the reviews. Onkyo is not a good deal anymore. Audio and component quality and reliability have all tanked.
Have been considering a new av receiver for a while.

This price is about standard for this model.

I'm leaning towards the Sony str-dn1080 though, I only upgrade my av receiver every 6 years or so, & the long term reliability of the onkyos worries me, esp as I always use the av receiver, never pass through (I actually don't understand how people can go back to using pass through & their pathetic TV speakers when they have proper speakers to use!).
better than x2500h?

They've not changed hands but they have acquired pioneer, to the detriment of pioneer

agree with that my onkyo just gone started with HDMI and then finally center speak stopped working.. tried to find onkyo to repair and turned into a big hassle to get anything to them.
