Good price though!
Only 3 HDMI inputs puts me off
was looking for reviews for this and came across this

trustedreviews.com/new…all

"Onkyo has issued statement saying that some of its "products [produced] between November 2011 and January 2012" have problems, featuring below-par components. These have led to problems and glitches in a number of Onkyo's home theatre boxes. Worried you might have a duff unit? Here are the model numbers reportedly affected -"

Yep - I prefer the higher end model that has 18 HDMI inputs................
Hot, no use to me as i've just got the STRDH820 but a good price for a basic 5.1 receiver.
Na it dont play ...cassettes
Voted cold as I'm too lazy to drive 130 miles to the nearest Richer Sounds store.
Hot. You will be hard pushed to beat this at the price
Pah. Paid £160 for this a few months ago. The 3 inputs is a bit of a hassle so I'll probably upgrade at some point, but a fine bit of kit.
Just rang my local branch and they had one but it was a repaired unit so i declined no box just bubble wrapped
Without a doubt an excellent price but I would go for the Sony 820 instead. Won the WhatHifi best buy award last year and it is new. The Onkyo is ex display stock missing the remotes and other bits and pieces. Heat for the price.

I paid 130 last month...
Shame - none in Bournemouth. Heat added though for those that can find one.

If you have a reasonable amount of AV equipment then 3 is not enough, I was talking about my own requirements so no need for the childish, sarcastic comments!

I have been looking at this receiver, how much did you get it for and where please?
I tried to buy the one they had in the Sheffield store, but rang up first.

"It doesn't have any ariel" said the salesman
"It doesn't have a remote" said the salesman
"It has quite a few scuffs" said the salesman
"The box is missing" said the salesman

When I was ok with all that...

"OK, i think it's just been sold - but I can sell you a really nice......."

I got it from Amazon warehouse @ the weekend, £200 (used, good), it arrived in a plain brown box but the unit was mint, not even a fingerprint. The batteries from the remote and the fm ariel were missing so i emailed Amazon and they offered 10% off (not bad for 2 aa's and a piece of wire :D)
Stonking price, heat added! Great for a budget / first home cinema system. I have the (slightly) bigger brother, the TX509 which I love. Now if only I can magically make the cables look tidy!

This is entirely the experience I had when i visited them to buy a TV/DVD combo on offer. I knew they had a cracking offer on but the salesman did his best to put me off it telling me how terrible said set was. It was so irritating that I ended up paying slightly more online without the hassle. Not great experience but good deal all the same.
Onkyo , never heard of them

Great price for an entry level receiver, don't forget the £200ish for speakers! I think 3 HDMI's is fine for entry level, if you have more then you're likely to be in the market for a higher end model surely

does this do the same job as a amp??
One in Manchester City Centre does not have a remote and is an ex-display model, apparently!
Brilliant price.

Not really, I have a BR player, Xbox, Media Centre, Laptop and Sky to connect, standard stuff tbh. I have Keff egg speakers which are kinda of entry level so not really looking to spend a massive amount on a amp, the STRDH820 is obviously a better option but it is also a higher price.
I won't take the bait with Richer Sounds anymore never have items in stock and most of the time it's to get you in the shop.
You know you're getting old when a deal has got to 650 degrees of heat and you have no idea what the item actually is. oO
