Damn - if only it had dual HDMI outputs.

Still hot from me though. 😁
Is this worth a purchase to people in the know?
I'd be upgrading from a 10 year old Sony 5.1 receiver.
Only 4 inputs sums up my current problems, I need more....
If anyone has any suggestions on what to pair this with, drop a comment. Dont want to spend any more than an extra £500 really. Want to go dolby atmos with my 65c9 and the ps4 pro - then 5 when it comes probably

Just read the sub woofer needs it's own amplifier, can't just plug in old one which I have. That correct?

I have exactly 4 inputs needed and I used to have an onkyo receiver (that exploded!) So I still have the woofer and 4 speakers.......very tempted

Could you use a splitter or adaptor? Im not 100% up to speed with sound systems as mine is about 8 years old and a simple all in one purchase.

I have the same question as I have an onkyo sub from a previous receiver kit

Ofcourse not!!!
Why would you swap Sony for this unknown brand...

Onkyo is not an unknown brand they are huge AV/Hifi experts.

Depends - my Onkyo sub is an active sub, ie it needs to be plugged into the mains. If your sub needs to be plugged into the mains it’ll work fine!
I currently use a high end Yamaha DSP-Z7 but it has no 4k passthru.

Just fyi - PS4 games don't have atmos. Hopefully PS5 will do but I doubt it. Netflix, Disney, etc. do have Atmos, so it's worth it for that. I have this receiver - it turns a blue light on when atmos is active.

I can't imagine how much of a mess that made, especially blueberry or strawberry.

Very olde, well over a decade now!

History books showed it first appeared when Saint Loughboro of Guy made a massive blunder and was struck down by pots of yogurt hurled by angry HUKD yokels.
So, just trying to briefly get back to this deal....is it a good one or not?
Used to love all the sofa and yoghurt jokes in here. Thanks Loughborough guy
I've an alert set up for Onkyo just so I don't miss the nod to LOUGHBORO.GUY and the comments from those who aren't in the know

Hasn't the Onkyo thread been running for over 10 years now. But never gets old.
EDIT: This is a slightly different model HT-R494. Thanks for correcting me @safc1976

ahhh wish it had an assistant built in
Sofa so good.
No idea what the joke is about, but I've taken a punt on it before it went OOS.
So sorry - when I see my sarcasm, I like there to be at least a flicker of intelligence behind it.
As there was none, I think it was a fair assumption that the poster was just being dumb.

Cheers! Would this limit game consoles to 60hz? Would you be better off running a console to the tv directly and keep this for blu ray player etc? All very new to me so excuse my ignorance !

The pictures looks different to those on ebay particularly the sub woofer. Slightly different models?
I would rather stick to known brands like Bush when it comes to A/V.

Hmm, well spotted. It seems mine is called 'HT-R494'. Wonder what the difference is. Nothing comes up online..

No, the poster was referring to an old thread where just the same comment was made.
Which exploded in HUKD folklore.

Good question - I am also ignorant to that. Anybody on here know if 4k passthrough is limited (by this receiver) to 60hz if used through hdmi 2.1 on a TV such as lg c9?

Thanks. Mine is just connected to my receiver, so would need a new sub (which was planning on getting at some point).
