So would a bullet if that is the aim

With enormous creative talents in GB in creative industries , why aren't there several of these series fresh annually?

I would imagine it's for copyrighted music that's used. Songs playing on the radio, that sort of thing. It would be ludicrous if major scenes, such as the "Cwying" scene with Raquel and the singer who only sang songs with no R's in them, for obvious weapons.

The Young Ones suffered the same fate when originally released on video, then on dvd. Most of the musical sequences, playing over major scenes, we're cut, leaving episodes incomprehensible in parts.

A great price for a great show. Voted hot. Yes they have edited the original recordings in places to make them more politically correct, mainly some of the thing's the characters say . It does not spoil the programmes though. It is happening more and more with other TV programmes. I noticed they have edited one of the original Big Bang Theory episodes because of the original references to drugs. And of course many of the original Tom & Jerry cartoons are now heavily edited. I am not saying all this is right or wrong just that it is happening.

I'd be genuinely interested which 'sitcoms' you rate higher than this, because I honestly don't think there are many better ones.

p.s. if you say Fawlty Towers, I will find you, and I will kill you

Also I think some older episodes also have parts cut due to some phrases are now seen as offensive and not acceptable today whereas when it was filmed that was the way everyone spoke in the 80s.

I think I read somewhere that some sort of new agreement exists regarding the music problem where they can now use all the previously cut music but it's unlikely to happen as they'd have to make another release

Someone posted this in the other thread, it goes into a bit more detail:
british-tv-cuts.co.uk/onl…tml

Seems to be mostly music though, rather than scenes.

The early Only Fools were quite laborious. There are quite a few (not including Fawlty Towers) I'd rate higher. Seinfeld, Friends Series 1 - 3, Frasier and Curb your Enthusiasm for starters. Not forgetting The Office, Scrubs and Modern Family. Hell, I'd even rate Malcolm in the Middle as better.

Will wait for it to hit £20

It does, but sadly that was the ONLY funny bit from the entire series.

Good God, you like your American stuff don't you?

I agree 100% with Curb and The Office, not so sure about the other stuff though.

Any news on a new series of Curb? I NEED it!

Can we not just have one post with this deal where someone doesn't mention the edits! ffs

BEST sitcom ever del boy reminds me so much of my late great grandad.

I'm just grateful that you didn't write the comedy for either because, if so, it would have been a travesty to mankind.

I'm guessing that you're one of those that requires the laughter track to know when to laugh along - which pretty much sums up the average Fawlty Towers 'fan'.

I'm guessing you are one of those who doesn't know how to take a joke and always has to have the last word - which pretty much sums up the average 'white van man' / Only fools and horses 'fan'
