If you are buying today for collection and registering/enrolling today itself, I would suggest waiting the full week permitted by Argos for collection as their return window is 30 days from date of collection. That way you would (hopefully) know if the £100 cashback has been accepted or not and then decide to keep or return the Chromebook within your statutory rights and per Argos terms.

The confusion arises because people are looking at the Chromebook only on the eligibility checker. It's important to keep scrolling down and select the bundle including the headset, as that shows as £100 cashback.

To be sure compare the Argos product code on the eligibility checker: 9514016

That's a good call innocent. I only use my touchscreen about 10% of the time, but for that 10% it makes the world of difference.

Hmmm, just not confident enough in this:

    Plus Chromebook:
    Cashback £100....
    Limited to 8,676 claims only!

Keep in mind, many makes/models of chromebook are eligible, and Argos is just one of many eligible sellers, and its a well advertised national long running offer..

Argos alone just now when I looked, claimed to have 100+ orders in the last 24hrs, and just for this one make/model of chromebook. Only God knows what 100+ actually means...could mean 101 or 199! But in any event, Argos claim it in just one 24hr period and for just this one make/model of chromebook. Think about it!

    Q. Is Cashback possible?
    A. Yes

    But there's a BIG 'BUT'...

This offer, (especially with so many days past since cashback offer started)... Is in my thinking best for those who (like me) see getting the cashback awarded only as a bonus, the icing on an already nice cake and not main goal and reason for buying.

    Good luck anyway...

Oh, by the way.. I personally am happy to accept the risk and so took the gamble. Ordered! (edited)

Qualifying Products: cashback -------number of CLAIMS

    Plus Chromebook----- £100 ------------------ 8,676

So, is this a Chromebook or Plus Chromebook?

How likely is it that this now being on HUKD the LIMIT before no more claims can be made, has already been passed?

Just me trying to be helpful and help fellow esteemed HUKD members from being disappointed. (edited)

Anyone know if you can install Windows on this?

    From a Google search:

Can you install Windows 10 on a Chromebook?
Most Chromebooks include a write-protect screw on the motherboard that prevents you from installing any operating system. To get Windows 10 on the machine, you'll need to remove the bottom shell, remove the screw from the motherboard, and then flash new firmware.17 Dec 2021.

So not for the faint hearted

    digitaltrends.com/com…ok/

    But it seems possible.

Hope that answers your question satisfactorily.

I'm picking retailer as Argos and scrolling down to

    Acer 314 14in Pentium™ 4GB 64GB FHD Chromebook With Headset - 9514016

However, I'm typing this on a touchscreen Chromebook, and I do really value the Touchscreen.

It's always nicer to have a touchscreen on a Chromebook, but usually this comes at higher cost. What I like about this Chromebook is the Pentium CPU, as most Chromebooks at around this price come with Celeron CPU's.

Even if you could/can you probably shouldn't,as with this specification Windows wouldn't be a great user experience anyway, inefficient resource hog that it is.
Perfectly adequate for it's intended use case,as a Chromebook.

But a receipt is for receiving an item, but it depends how picky they are. I looked back at my last Argos receipt and it does list the purchase date as well as the collection date, so there could be wriggle there to put the claim in, as suggested by @MrAndMrsChadha , with a possible 7 extra days. However, when I clicked through to T&C's re returning, it states, for me, that you have 30 days from date of purchase, not receipt (i.e. collection). I'm not sure how distance selling regs apply here, compared to delivery etc. Andi am clearly no expert.

That's exactly what the staff in the store said - that the warehouse team open and check nobody has put a brick in.
In this case though they shouldn't sell it as new again as the original factory seal is broken.
Like AO it should be sold as open box never used customer return.

cash back is not garenteed. Its first come first serve up to the limits posted on the first article. Judging by how many have been sold since then I think it would be very unlikely that their will be very meny redemptions left. The other thing to note is several laptops have been down graded to £35 cashbacks when there price has been reduced (even by other suppliers than the one you bought it from). Please bear that in mind when you buy this. Its probably just going to end up with a £10 discount and anything more is a bonus.

I submitted my cashback yesterday and got a email today saying I was successful. it does not mention how much cashback but hoping for the £100 as advertised! £70 for this is a steal! typing from update on this chromebook now.

Congratulations! Your claim has been successfully validated and your reward will be on its way to you very soon!

    What do I do next?

You don’t need to do anything, but there’s still a couple of things for us to do.
This shouldn't take any longer than 30 days and, by then, you should have received another update on your claim.

    Thanks,
    The Chromebook team

Likewise, my cashback came through yesterday - only a day after claiming. This was an incredible Chromebook bargain , £69.99 and it has a years 100gb Google One free storage (that I needed anyway) that would cost 15.99. Having used the Chromebook for a month, at the same time as a Mac and Windows laptops, I can honestly say for basic use I prefer the user experience and cloud integration of ChromeOS to macOS and Windows 10/11, other than for power usage such as video editing/virtual machines the Chromebook has surprised me with how responsive it is despite an on paper low spec. The only downside is the rubbish Office 365 Webapp (not Google/ChromeOS fault - this is likely deliberate hobbling by Microsoft) if that was slicker then my other devices would be largely redundant,

Nothing to be sorry about it is pretty confusing in that drop-down list the way it has been done, I only saw the £35 to start with myself.

The only worry about this deal now, after the cashback deal has been live for two weeks, is if they will have exceeded the redemptions based on how many they have already sold. Someone with deep pockets like google could honour more if the promotion is super popular, but they won't be obliged to.

If you are choosing a Chromebook, it's probably because you are sick of the bloated Windows. At this pricepoint, the preformance of Windows laptops is also going to be poor in comparison.

100% this should get £100 cashback. Whether it will is another thing.

When you enter the laptop bundle details on the claim page it clearly says it is £100 cahsback for this model. I have just bought one for my brother, and enroilled for the cashback. In 30 days I will make a claim. If they try to pay less I will show them the screenshots I have taken from the Argos website and the claim page. What more can I do? Its amazing bargain for £69.99.
