I've posted this again as my last one got deleted for some unknown reason.

Worth noting that the reason Opera Mini is so fast is that everything is pre-processed on the Opera servers, so privacy and security are an issue if you're doing anything other than basic browsing (e.g. internet banking).

It's hardly a 'hot' deal unless we're going to start posting every single free application on the App Store?
Saying that, using it on the old skool 2G iPhone offers a massive speed increase on sites like the Beeb.

ill vote hot, i dloaded it yesterday and it is a hell of a lot better than safari - suprised apple approved it tho.

They approved it as it doesn't breach any of their rules so not really that surprising.

Its fast to load but horrible to use. Click on page, text is unreadable, zoom in, won't let you zoom to the level you want, hit back and instead of going back a page it zooms out again requiring a second back to actually go back a page, given up on it already.

Also its free, its been free since day one and will always be free so its hardly a hot deal. Not gonna vote either way though as I guess some folk will disagree.

I am using this on my Windows Mobile device and it's superb!

It's good if used for certain situations, like if you have a 2g iPhone, or are in a bad signal area. Also, because everything goes through a proxy, you can get to naughty sites even if your provider blocks them (like three) for example). Overall, I still prefer Safari though.

This is really for 2G iPhone or people who have poor 3G coverage. If you have 3G then MobileSafari is quicker in a lot of cases.

Only if you don't trust Opera of course.

i like this on my 3g in mobile mode

it is very.. very fast.. however is not truly HTML rendered, so safari is better for websites with alot of content..

Not really a 'deal'

downloaded. tested. deleted.

checking this

Downloaded and deleted. Doesn't seem madly faster or easier to use, especially when you get accustomed to the built-in Safari browser and its pleasing aesthetics with its HTML rendering. A few sites seem to hang, I think this is because all pages are run through a Opera run proxy if I read the App description properly.
Apple probably accepted this app as it isn't that great!

i like having your favourite sites as the start page, i cant be arsed to bookmark with safari

I introduced my mate in work to Opera Mobile on his N96 today and he loves it!

Not necessarily a matter of trust, it breaks end to end security. But that's not a problem for most things.

Its RUBBISH!!!!!!!

Fast........yes very, but being unable to zoom to your choice makes it unusable for many websites

Good or bad, at least people now have a choice!

The important thing with choice is that it may force Apple to innovate a bit more with their browser.. something it definitely needs!

Opera's perfect if your not in a 3G area sure it has some bugs atm but im sure these will be fixed.

Air video ( inmethod.com/air…tml ) will do live conversion of avi's to stream on iphone, although you do need to leave your computer on, but it works really well for me.

Crap.
