Save money on data charges

Opera's mobile browsers are the smart choice for browsing on expensive wireless data plans. Using Opera Mini or Opera Mobile to browse the web with your mobile phone can save you money on your phone bills, by reducing your data usage substantially. Opera Mini uses only a tenth of the bandwidth of other browsers, compressing webpages by up to 90%. With Opera Mobile, turning on Opera Turbo compresses data by up to 80%, or leave Opera Turbo off to get full website data, as you would on a PC.

This is really useful if you're using a Samba Broadband sim in a 3 mobile, really extends the use of data.

to give you a idea my total usage for this month is normally 1gb it has compressed this down to 99.3mb , took this from the data usage within the app and it matches network stats

I prefer Chrome on Android. It syncs with all your PCs Tabs that are open as well as the bookmarks. You can keep everything consistent between your browsers and devices.

never knew about this, thanks for sharing

Great app use it all the time

Have to agree here, the sync across devices is really useful!

Though I think Opera is aimed at a slightly different audience to be honest So hot from me!

using for longggg time and very good.....

Now that is a tasty statistic.

Speeds up browsing where there is a poor signal, if you've got no 3G signal and are working EDGE or less, then Opera is the quickest. I use Opera out in the sticks for this very reason.

And of course, where you are on a restricted data allowance or are paying by the MB it is the no-brainer choice.

If you use Opera on your PC/Laptop then you can do the same with Opera Link.

I'm a long time user of Opera both on Mobile and Desktop/Laptop platforms. Find it much better than the other offerings.

As an example on how much it can reduce your data usage, here's a screenshot of a few months usage on my iPhone - the best thing about it is that you don't even realise that anything is happening behind the scenes, pages load up fine etc.

So you've completely missed the point then. Well done.

That's the only advantage of chrome on android. Other than that it's one of the worst browsers I've used. It's quite ironic how even the stock browser blows away chrome.

Have used Opera in the past and it is good, but I prefer Dolphin. Faster and less crashes... not sure about the data usage bit.

This is awesome - I've used it so much I have the buttons at the bottom of Opera screen-burned into my phone's screen ><
I got through some 37gb with this by downloading just 7 iirc.
Naturally, this doesn't allow flash nor does it compress downloads, but aside from that it's super nice to use.
