Micro SD *Bonus point wasn't massively essential*
Headphone jack!!
Affordable good price i.e £200 or less.
6-8gb Ram
I was told I am asking the impossible! I knew I wasn't!
My only thing now, I wonder is, is there a samsung phone very similar to this around this price point £150 - £200
The benchmarks on the CPU have thrown me. I expect that the this would be more efficient over the 12nm Mediatek
Oppo’s Reno range seems to have been downgraded since the 2 series…
If your Reno 2Z is dying then yes it’s worth getting, but if you’re buying to expect an upgrade it’s not really there.
The Reno 2 range was trying to be a premium mid range phone, with things like the pop-up cameras, wide angle/zoom lenses and Snapdragon 730G processors.
This Reno 7 is barely an upgrade on the processor, it offers no 5G, no wide-angle camera.
But that is me just comparing the Reno 2 and 7 series, side by side. But I think this phone is great value at £149, considering the AMOLED display, 8GB RAM, general build quality and 2 years of upgrades to Android 14.
Had several Oppo devices and always well made and reliable.
Plus as this is a recently launched phone you should get a minimum oftwo years of updates getting Android 13 and 14.
One thing that might be a killer for this phone is, I think it is the 4G version and offers no 5G! Oppo released two versions of the Oppo Reno 7 and it makes no reference to 5G on Amazon. (edited)
I don't care about 5G. I only use my phone for a mini PC and usually on Wifi.
What I am paranoid about is security lol. However I think it will be fine. I hear people say don't buy chinese phones. I don't care about the spying, what I do care about is would I be vulnerable to malware attacks or anything more serious lol but surely not?
If they are selling many phones, surely they are fine.
I may go for this.
I tried to look it up too and I think we will actually get up to 4 years support! (3 Android revisions)

I was interested in the Pixel 6a, but way out of my price bracket, and it doesn't have half the features I wanted mentioned in my post above so really. This just screams go for it. Now I am left "what's the catch?" lol.
However with you having first hand experience, and saying they are well made and reliable. Makes me think it will be fine.
