I notice this says it is compatable with HD 720/1080... but does this mean it's a HD projector? Or does it mean it just mimics it, so to speak...?

Well, it can't do 1080p for a start, as its maximum horizontal resolution is 1280. It can do 720p, though.

720HD would require 1280 x 720 pixels.

This is only 800 x 600 so does not have the required pixels in either direction.

So no it wouldn't be HD in any way, you would be better off getting a 720 projector, so you could then map the pixels 1:1

It probably means that it can access an HD signal via component or VGA, but it won't be natively HD, since it doesn't have enough pixels to be.

But this is a great deal. £233 for a bright projector with screen is a steal!
