I bought this projector a year ago and it is excellent, got it displayed on a 92" screen and the quality is amazing. I don't us the 3D function.

very good projector.
Been waiting for this but then soft of talked myself out of it because of the rainbow affect potential. Would like to see one in use first, wonder if i could return it to amazon if i get the affect.

I have the Optoma H180X - don't notice the rainbow effect at all unless I purposely dart my eyes back and forth or blink unnaturally, then I can force myself to just about see it.
Bought this in Jan from Amazon.es and a cheap electronic 92" screen from EBay. The screen comes down in front of the TV. Since the projector arrived the TV hasn't been switched on, the projector is used for everything. Great quality and excellent picture quality. Only issue is the noise from the fan is a little annoying. Make sure to turn off Dynamic Black and put it in Eco mode.
Great product- not the cheapest its been tho.

Hey, Bungalow Bill what did you kill....strange! I have just read your comment exactly as someone wrote on Amazon.:) Am seriously thinking of one of these projectors.

has anyone used this with the ps4 and if so is this any good for online black ops 3? I had an Epson tw3500 but it's given up the ghost and I really can't afford an expensive projector right now.

I have the slightly older version which isn't full HD... Not played black ops 3 but I've played things like gta and fifa on it and imo it's brilliant, even with lights on

The 3d is excellent too!

i got one, my son uses it mainly for ps4 black ops to shoot his friends. He's not complained at all about the 80" screen. It does look good, 3d is a gimmick though imo.

Did you use the lens shift on the TW3500? If so you may find this comparatively irritating to position correctly.
I bought a 141x to replace an ageing Panasonic but it's very cheap and noisy. Wish I'd saved up for a better model.
I have one of these since Jan 2015. Superb projector - picture quality is amazing and I am getting a 120" picture (about 2.7 meters wide, entire wall really) projecting from the other end of the a 5m long living room. 3D works great too but rarely used. Predictably, 47" image on telly looks rubbish after getting used to the 2.m wide cinema experience - it's now just for news and kids cartoons (occasionally kids too insist on watching bubble guppies or peppa pig on big screen... be warned of the giant daddy pig!)

The only criticism if I were to be super-pedantic, it would nicer if the unit was white rather than black - to blend in better in the white ceiling.
I tasted the rainbow effect using a proper projection screen but not on an off-white wall. So now I don't bother with the screen.
I've got the HD131XE and it's been brilliant, for the price I paid (around 500 quid) I've been well happy with it. The only negative I would say is that some people can see the rainbow effect in the more inexpensive projectors. It's not a deal breaker but does get annoying from time to time. Other than that, an absolute bargain really. Good find OP
I have a similar Optoma projector and it has been running flawlessly for several years now.
This is great for the occasional home cinema event or playing computer games on a 100" screen/wall
But before buying make sure you understand that this has an audible fan to cool down the bulb so it's not for everybody and not for running 24/7 due to bulb replacement costs.
had one of these a year and a half, don't use it all that often but it is brilliant, got bout 120" display. Still need to purchase some 3d glasses to try the 3D. I recommend this
Had one of these but was susceptible to the rainbow effect, exchanged for an Epson TW5210 LCD, much much better. Slight loss of black, very slight but no rainbow effect is pure bliss.
It may not have been the cheapest price, but still a cracking deal. I have a Benq w1080ST full 1080p projector ( i went for short throw as i wanted to get the biggest screen i could in my limited space) and a Samsung LED TV (though now 6 years old, but still decent quality tv) however i prefer the picture and colour of my projector compared to the tv.
Are there any quality projectors that are passive? Also, are projectors any good with blacks? I don't need anything larger than 55", and I don't mind waiting for the OLED tvs to be cheaper.
The only thing you need to consider with these projectors is where you are going to put it as if it's anyway close to you (2-5 feet) the fan noise will be unbearable on anything other than ECO.
Had one for about 18 months, looks so good projected onto a pale grey wall that I've not bothered with a screen

On the fan noise, we have it right behind our heads and I rarely notice it once a film is playing.

that's a very good point....I did use the lens shift. I will do my research on this projector and see whether I can have it centrally positioned somehow. I don't really want to ceiling mount it

Battlefield 4, Fallout 4 and Star Wars Battlefront look gorgeous on this - as someone has said, going back to the TV is like taking a step backwards. I use mine all the time and it's perfect...
Have had a HD600x for 5+ years, can't fault it! Everyone asks "Where's your TV?" and I then point to the ceiling and there it is. Have a ~4m throw giving ~84inch picture. Never experienced any rainbow effect, and not bothered with a screen either.

This, with a voltage regulator on the 12v out, and a Pi running OpenELEC (Kodi) is all you need. Cancel your TV/Sky/etc. to pay for it!!
My CamelCamelCamel just alerted me to this dropping below £400..

Do i get it....? hmmm
Just seen this on richer sounds for £384

its superb for gaming but I haven't played black ops 3 but have used it for battlefield 4 and street fighter 4 and was blown away.
Tempted but how do you attach to the ceiling and run the cables etc. Will need power too. Am sure would get a lot of use once setup but concern on cost of install also wondering how far back will need to be from wall to get big enough picture to give me the wow was worth the work.
got one of these last year (for a similar price from amazon.it). its hooked up to a 110" tab tensioned screen. since it was installed last november, i can count the number of times the TV has been used on one hand. i thought at first we would just watch movies on it, and use the TV for watching normal tv shows... but we just havent bothered with the tv at all since it went in...

Yep, had the £30 gift card deal with the free £7 voucher ££342.99. Anyway, fab unit. Battlefront looks great and so does 3d.
Alot of people worried about the rainbow effect , you will only see this if you look around the screen whilst watching a movie , the art form is simply to watch the middle and try to relax , but I found I was missing to much else in the film.lol. , me personally I like to look all around the a screen especially when your sat 8 ft from a 92 inch screen , I couldn't live with it , got rid for an lcd ... but for all the doubters out there many will echo this , it is great watching 90+ screen at home , I prefer it to cinema now ......

I own a previous one (131x I think) and use it when playing bops3. Once you find the optimum seating distance / screen size then it's perfect. The colours are very sharp and no rainbow effect what so ever (I actually saw the RE only when I focus on one side of the screen for a second and them turn my head quickly to the other side).

Make sure the room is pitch dark though. If there is any sunlight leaking through the curtains - the screen gets a bit too bright for spotting enemies in distance
For those who are planning to buy - the key issue is the room. Make sure you have a room arrangement suitable for projector. It needs at least 4-5m clear distance between the projector / screen. Also you need to be able to make the room dark enough to enjoy the projection. The ceiling mounts, screens, cables etc are the easy bits imo.

Do you not have your TV on in daylight hours? or just shut the curtains?
Bought it and used the 0% interest over 12 months.... (Added an Amazon supplied 64GB card to take it to over £400)

*Thanks* OP, I think.. Lets hope the missus doesn't notice it in the living room.:D

Bit of white trunking up the door frame, or channel out the plasterboard. I did the former, and you can't see the cables up the wall until they emerge near the projector to the side of the living room door. Just make sure you insert two HDMI leads, so you have the spare for plugging laptops or similar into. I have a main 15-20 metre HDMI running from the projector, down the trunking, behind the furniture on the skirting, up and over another door frame, and to the AV unit - and it's perfect...
