Erm no fella... It will still have a bulb and it will still age..
That said all my projectors have been LCD as the rainbow effect of dlp kills me.
Laser projs are the next big thing but a bit of being affordable unless you play for a premier league team

No matter what projector you buy they'll all need a bulb change once its been used up.

Both DLP and 3LCD use bulbs. However both should last long enough with average use that you'll probably want to upgrade before you replace the bulb

So tempted by this now, especially after cancelling an Amazon Warehouse deal for £354 on Monday!

Or does one buy from richersounds at £399 plus a 6 year warranty for just £40?

Or will it all get cheaper still on BF???

Decisions, decisions......

Stuck in projector limbo Panasonic PT-AX1000 ages old 720p unit, £270 for a new genuine lamp or £70 for a dodgy one. Might be worth the risk, anyone got any experience of "pattern" lamps.

Ditch it on eBay, not even worth spending £70 on the bulb

Thanks for this

I have an LED projector which doesn't have a changeable bulb. 30,000 hours lifespan and solid state.

Oh God...how am I supposed to not buy this?

The person asking is talking about a proper LCD projector not a LED one, all the LED ones are cheap and nasty compared to any proper projector. Luckily I get to review projectors and the difference with the two kinds is like night and day.

Well, RicherSounds should price beat Amazon by £10 if you ask them

I’m going to complain to amazon and see if they’ll do anything as RicherSounds don’t delive

So, I'm happy to report that RicherSounds have just price beaten Amazon by £10 for me (=£365), and refunded me the difference on the price I paid earlier in the week. They even refunded a proportion of the extra 6-year warranty too. I can't recommend RicherSounds highly enough

Good to hear.

i had a chat with amazon and they weren’t prepared to lower their price but did say it may drop lower tomorrow. I kinda doubt it though but here’s hoping.

Richer sounds had some cracking prices Black Friday last year, including there projector range. Might be worth holding out one more day...

Sorry to be pedantic, but the person asked if the projector here needs a bulb change or not, or words to that effect. Reasonable question as some projectors don't need a bulb change, like mine. You replied "No matter what projector you buy they'll all need a bulb change once its been used up." which is incorrect.

My LED projector was very cheap, though in no way nasty. It does exactly what I need it to do and is more sturdy than any projector I know of with a filament/glass bulb. That feature was most important to me, and seeing as bulb changing was the original concern I'd imagine it would have been more helpful to have spent a moment more to think, before answering a question on a subject you purport to know about.

He said 'if I get a projector with 3LCD' which means he/she was never going to buy a cheap LED in the first place, so that was out the question. I answer correctly but thanks for your wasted time

Look again at what he wrote:

"If I get a projector with 3LCD tech will there be no need to change the bulb(s)?"

He clearly doesn't know that 3LCD projectors have a changeable bulb, and may be getting 3LCD mixed up with LED. So no time would have been wasted if you had read the question properly, and you might have answered correctly... though I think that's unlikely now seeing the logic that makes you tick.

Hey, ref! Can you tell us the score?

I don't know, I was mocking the both of you for acting like kids and don't have the time to go back to check which of you gave the best argument.

Go to penalites and try to referee yourselves.

What are you even talking about?

You only ever see Rainbow effects with fasting moving objects, eg in action scenes in a movie. You've been watching too much of this this. Do you think projectors would sell if they always had a rainbow in the middle of the screen funny guy.

I did, couldn't see anything, except for striping across the middle of the screen in the snow image with the man with glasses, but that is not due to RBE, as RBE occurs on the outer edge of an object that moves quickly, not a strped band of colour across the entire screen.

On the user pictures, I’m looking on my iPhone X which apparently is the best display ever made according to disolaymate... so it’s not my end.

i see a rainbow going through every single picture... so I guess it’s just from the camera then as no one complains... I just find it weird that they’d even upload the image of it loooks that bad

perhaps u r pinch zooming in onto the outline of objects which I have not done as I am on my pc. But definitely know RBE for me on what is a pretty decent gaming monitor. Each to their own.
