Nice higher end Optoma UHD model at 3840x2160
The 4K models at 4096x2160 seem much more expensive and I am sure the image quality on this would be outstanding. Perhaps a bit niche, but I thought it was well worth it on this. It has speakers built in as you'd probably expect.

I would buy one, but I'd need extremely short throw for it to work in the dog house Anyways, If you're looking for something like this, could be one to short list.

12/10 would watch the World Cup on it... Do want

Expensive for a faux 4K projector you'll end up upgrading for a real one within a year or two @FunkiestMonkey
Good to see 4K projectors begin to approach affordability. Not for me personally yet as I would wait for them to come down some more maybe to the £500 area as I have a good 1080P model that already has really nice PQ and tbh I couldn't see the improvement from 1080P to 4K being as dramatic as 720P to 1080P, especially since my room only allows me to project up to about 100"...
The benq w1700 looks good for 4k. I just bought a w2000 and it's fabulous
I gave this projector and a Optoma 1080p, 4K looks convincing, I don’t care if it’s real or not... it looks so much better than my Optoma 1080. Only downside is sd sucks on it... I have to use my 1080 for that. Also I project onto grey, it gives better blacks....

Any 4K short throws on the horizon?
Not very bright
They would have to be VERY bright to project onto the horizon!!
