The basic model (1000) and higher has 40,000 pulse per min.
Anything below the 1000 series (ie 600/650) has only 20,000 pulse per min.

Have to be careful with this one, I have ordered it 3 times thinking it was the new lithium ion model as per the blurb on the site. the Pro 2 2000N is indeed the lithium ion model but every time I was sent the old model. Customer services did me a no return refund and said order for a fourth time... was out of stock... then price went up to £40 yesterday and now this deal but note even though the picture is of the new model they have removed the text about Lithium ion, so suspect it is just being used to get rid of all remaining old models...

So much misinformation in this thread! If people don't know why do they feel compelled to spout nonsense?

Ni-mh will last UP TO a week on each charge. The newer Li-ion ones about double this and the useful life of the battery should be better too (a bit early to tell in these brushes as they are just being introduced).

If you can get one of the newer Li-ion ones for this price (or a little more) grab it quick but don't pay the ridiculous list price for any Oral B brush!

Lit ion?

Lit ion?

Nope, nickel metal hydride (NiMH). Makes this unit heavier but otherwise no differences. Still lasts a week on a charge. Can still be charged continuously without issue. Just takes longer to recharge after a brushing.

Apparently all models are moving to lit ion now, not sure if this is true, but lit ion holds the charge longer according to the last super drug offer

Anyone know the life of the Lit Ion compared to NiMh, previous brushes (NiMh ones) we've had only seem to last a couple of years before the battery life drops off

Lithium Ion is likely to be similar or worse at losing charge.

Li-ion lasts twice as long on a charge. Charging advice directly from the Oral B site:

"
  • If this is your first time using the product, you should fully charge the battery before using, which can take up to 16 hours.
  • Once your handle is fully charged, continue using your electric toothbrush until no charge is left. Then, fully charge it again instead of charging between each use. This will help your battery perform at its best longer. "

I've just been in contact with Oral B.

They confirm that Li-ion is being introduced as an upgrade across most of the range. It appears that model names haven't changed so both are out there! You have to check on the actual box supplied so no help really for mail order. What a nuisance!

Charge life with a Li-ion on the 600 is claimed at 12 days, other models 'over 2 weeks'.

This model comes with NiMH. Oral B confirmed this, via Amazon Customer Q & A:

Q: Does this one have a lithium ion battery and not Ni-mh?

A: This model has an Ni-MH battery. Our newer range of toothbrushes have Lithium-ion batteries.
Your Oral-B Team

Ordered - thanks! Not worried about it having the Ni-MH battery - they still last years and at £22.99 (with discount), it's very good value.

The model names have changed.

Old "Pro 2000"
New "Pro 2 2000"

It's just Amazon that have cocked it up.

Oral B and dental profession would advise against, but anyway you can hardly blame the manufacturers for not taking your personal habits into account.

What an exciting life you have.

Bought and voted hot, though £4 postage is too much.

Just been delivered, it’s the newer model - up to a 2 week charger. Bargain!

Mine has just arrived also with the new Li-ION battery, thanks op
