You need the Oral B Pro 2 2000n or Oral B Pro2 2500n cheapest is EBay at the moment (new inc p&p) then Amazon
Is there any significant benefit to getting the new models, expect a slightly better battery?
They're trying to flog the old stock.

Brush is fine but buying one now is false economy IMO, you'll be moaning about the battery in less than two years (like I was). Just get a Pro 2 2500N with Li-ion battery from Asda or Amazon for £30.

Just the battery, but using an NiMh battery you have to do regular full charge, full discharge cycles if you want the battery to hold a good capacity. That can be a pain given that a full charge can take 20 hours so out comes the regular tooth brush! The newer models will probably save money and a load of hastle in the long run as you can do quick top ups or say 10 hours one day, 10 the next etc without harming the battery.

Bear in mind you've also got 2 weeks capacity i.e. enough for your hols with the newer ones without taking the charger base.

Thanks, very helpful! Do you know anything about the cheaper ones that you can put your own rechargeable AA batteries in? Are they just less powerful?

They're 2D, lack power and fail to do the job properly. After a short while the battery door becomes very difficult to remove/replace. Maybe OK for holiday travel but otherwise forget it!

They only oscillate (2d) I think the extra vibration (3d) helps get your teeth cleaner. Not sure about the comment re. battery cover above as youngest (nickname trasher) has not had issues but silicone grease might be the answer as they have rubber seals

I prefer the battery version. Battery easily lasts nearly a month and can recharge in just a few hours. Considering what you pay, Braun are being cheapskates in putting in a low quality battery and charging megabucks.

Sorry do you worry about the capacity of a battery after two years in a toothbrush costing £20? Crikey

I'd prefer to buy something that's going to last, yes. There's a better option for not a great deal more money.

Can we use Trizone brush head with this model?
