Currently on a £20 per month contract (and I only normally spend £20 per month all in) and phoned Orange retentions to renew my contract.
The deal is:-
£10 per month for Racoon 20 (with their custom extras giving...):-
400mins p/m (200mins + bonus 200mins)
Unlimited landline calls (3000 mins fair usage limit)
1300 text p/m (300text + bonus 1000 text)
500Mb Data p/m
24 month contract...
Plus a free LG Optimus One Android Phone. (Comes with a car cradle for satnav usage etc)
Whilst not the best phone in the world, it fetches around £130-150 on ebay!

Further note: I'm using tariff with the SIM (which I have cut) in an iPhone 4, and it all seems to work just fine...

This works out at just over £4 per month if you flog the free phone...

To get this deal you have to phone up Orange directly and haggle... (It may only be available to existing customers)
Dial 150 from an Orange phone (for free), then it's option 1, 4, 2, then press 1 to speak to someone...

Awesome, I run into my upgrade period in 4 days so this is a tempting option. I hate the idea of a 2 year contract, but a £4 a month effective that's a spicy meatball! lol!

This is a customer specific offer. It is not available to the wider public. Dont waste your time. Retentions may offer it to you if you've been with them a long time and spend a lot p/m.

I think the mods should ban all these silly retention posts.

Disagree - always a pleasure to see an orange post that doesn't end up with all on their knees worshipping the west coast of america.

Hmmm, mine is up for renewal now, might give it a try.

I got offered 400mins, 1300txts, unlimited landlines, 750mb's internet for £12.50 on an 18month contract. Plus a new phone (HTC Mozart or simular - but only cos I've spent alot in the past 12 months)

haggling isn't really a deal for everyone is it so have to agree a bit of a waste of time and your also assuming people will be able to sell it at the price you quote which is definitely not guaranteed when it comes to ebay

I think you have done pretty well haggling! Im due up in 3 months time, on £15pm on orange, so hopefully something similar would be good.

By any chance did you see how much they would do an iphone for?

my renewal is up and they offerred diddly squat, no reward for loyalty, save a 10% discount of line rental, if i sign up for a new contract - i'd get a better deal and phone joining as a new customer.

Just phone up asking for your pac as you have seen a deal from o2, and they will do something for you!!

This is a decent-enough budget Android phone. I had a look at it, Orange SF and was also looking at the Sony Ericsson X10 Mini Pro. I went for the Orange SF in the end and got a brill retentions deal.
LG review on TechRadar here: techradar.com/rev…iew

If anyone else it at/near the end of their contract and are looking for an Android phone, go through to "Disconnections" (Retentions) and ask about the Orange San Francisco (you're likely already aware of it, there's posts here: hotukdeals.com/dea…425 AND here: hotukdeals.com/dea…127

I went through and was offered the handset for £11.99. I'm an existing Orange pay monthly customer, come to the end of my contract, deals for some phones or even just sticking with my existing phone were poor on the Upgrades line (they said they'd put my tariff up as it's a Loyalty one and "special" - some loyalty, lol). Went through to 'Disconnections' and had a friendly word (nice staff there).
I've just had my current plan (a bargain £10 with internet) extended for another 18 months with double mobile minutes and the handset for £11.99. Uno Grey San Fran being delivered on Fri.
Whoop!

- If you try, you might be offered it for £39.99 at first, but just ask again or call back and talk to someone else. Even at £39.99 it's pretty sweet.

Totally agree, they are individual deal for a specific customer.

i just called them an hour ago, and i am an existing payg customer, my orange sim was my first one, had it since when i was 16, im 26 now, have probably topped up £50 in the last 7 years, no top up for the last 2 years, as ive been on contracts with other networks. Theyve never cut me off, as this is my main number and im always gettin active calls,

neway, despite my low spend they have offered me the above deal for £15 a month, so i said, scratch that, and they offered me 30 day sim only 300 xnet + 1300 text + unltd landlines + 500mb data & 15 picture messages, not bad to be fair.

ive always been on contract with o2 or vodafone, and swore i would neva go to any other network for contracts, but o2 are no longer rewarding contract customers who pay £40 or less a month, and vodafone aint got no good deals goin

for the time being this will do, and if i get low on xnet mins, then i may just grab a tesco sim only as a buffer, or even the asda £25 unltd calls text, for when i expect to be makin loads of calls.

but if i stop lettin other use my minutes cuz they aint got mins, ill be ok

My friend called up tonight a couple of hours ago and also got the HTC Desire for free for £10 a month on the same tariff. So may be worth asking what phones are available on this offer when you call.

^ If that is right thats a good deal, Desires go for over £220 on ebay so its basically a free contract for 2 years!
Funny this thread popped up, I was rang by the upgrade team today, was offered
600 Mins, unlimited text, unlimited int, - £7.65 inc VAT rise - 18 month contract.
I do have 2 contracts currently £30 a month 2 year (finishing) and a £25 2 year for my gf.
I didn't go for any offer yet, prob take a punt at that Desire deal, if they can't do that I'll go Sim only

nice deal, hot, have some heat.

Go Desire! I asked about it and they said "not for £10 a month". Sometimes it depends who you get, if you have a lil' joke with them, if you're prepared to haggle, or simply how much you've been paying for how long.
Good for you on that deal offer - a little jealous I admit(!) - but I think mine's fair anyway so hey.

Thats amazing! will be calling them up for that as I don't need the HTC Mozart or Galaxy S - will go buy an iphone 4 and cut the sim.

He's just being helpful. It is good to know how far they will go with retaining customers. He explained he spends £20 a month, so people who spend around that know what to aim for. It's useful for people above too, who may think they are getting a good deal, until they realise someone spending £20 is getting even better.

Now, be nice and don't put people off posting.

Agreed!

I'm on a £40 contract and have just moved into upgrade period.

Will give them a call tomorrow...

Thanks OP.

I asked for a microsim, and they said it would cost me £10 a month extra since they wouldn't send me one without going on an iPhone 'bolt on'. I asked why and was told if I didn't, not all the features might work eg the wifi. Anyway they woudn't discount the iPhone for me. Fortunately I'd already got one SIM free.

And for the record, I almost never spend more than my £20 per month on my tariff, so it wasn't like I was a big user.
Anyway, it's good to see others doing well with getting similar tariffs. - Though I'm a little gutted I didn't get my Desire! - However to be honest I wasn't expecting them to give me a phone at all!

It's true what the someone else said, it's a pretty much tailored thing and not a set deal for everyone, but I think it's good for people to know what everyone else is getting out there so you can push for best value for money - this is what this site is all about afterall isn't it?

She initially asked for the HTC Wildfire but they couldn't offer that and offered the Desire which is a way better phone anyway. I couldn't believe it when she said she got it for a tenner a month!

I already have a Desire, so I am probably going to go for the £7.65 deal. Ringing me back on Friday, I'll let you guys know how I get on

Thanks for posting, OP - and others who've posted similar Orange retention deals.

As of yesterday, I'm 17 months into my current 18 month contract, so I've been planning on speaking to retentions some time this week. It's great to have some phones and figures in mind before doing so

if you want a phone to use more than a year avoid this or maybe just ignore LG.
I'm a fan of LG as it's cheap and good looking~but the quality is really poor.anyway it's fine for me as I get phone changed in about a year~

Thanks again jc74.
I've just renewed my contract today. Got an almost identical deal to yours - but with a different phone and a shorter contract length.
18 months.
£10.21 per month (inc new vat rate)
400mins p/m (200mins + bonus 200mins)
Unlimited landline calls
1300 text p/m (300text + bonus 1000 text)
500Mb Data p/m

As regards handset the three best options looked to be:
HTC Desire HD for £179.99
Samsung Galaxy S, also at £179.99
or San Fransisco (ZTE Blade) for free.
I would have dearly loved to have one of the two top spec phones, and they both would have been a bargain at the price, but I'm on a tight budget and went with the San Fran instead.

Could've sold the Galaxy S or Desire HD for a tidy profit, of course, but this will be my first smart phone. If I'd sold the phone I would have needed to buy a decent cheap smart phone and I would probably have ended up with a San Fran... I might have been a few quid better off that way (please don't tell me I would've been more than about £30 better off!), but wanted to save on the legwork and be up and running asap.

I'm on a current £10 per month deal for 225 minutes, 100 texts and no data. Tried this at lunchtime and only got offered a £20.42 per month deal and thay didn't have the LG Optimus 1 - won't get them till later in the month. I declined and insisted on my PAC code. Will now be looking for a better deal on another network - I have already seen better on t-mobile.

Hiya, was that through the "Upgrades" line? I tried that and was getting the same sort of offers - I wasn't impressed! However, I've just finished my 18th month contract but was still with them for another 30 days (I'm sure they said the £10 a month I was paying would only go up on 11th Jan). So I called disconnections to get my PAC code as needed to sort asap, but first person I got through instantly asked "couldn't they offer you your current deal?" to which I replied nope etc. and he said he could do that as long as it was before the 11th he could extend the loyalty discount. I asked if I could get a handset on it and he said yes (but I knew I'd be restricted on that sorta deal), asked about the San Fran and said he could do for the low price - when I called back and got through to someone else, they agreed same offer was no problem but said the handset would be more than originally offered - but when I mentioned lower original offer it was OK'ed.

So don't give up - if you're still under contract, call after your contract end date and go through to retentions and just be nice and I'm pretty sure you'll get a better offer (although offers vary from customer to customer).

I'm on a 30 day rolling contract. I selected the option for those who were coming to the end of their contract and asked for my PAC code. The woman I spoke to wouldn't offer anything over and above what I have stated. She even said they weren't having the Optimus 1 until later this month!

When I get my PAC code I shall look elsewhere for a good deal (unless of course Orange contact me in the meantime and offer me anything else to stay!)

Hi
im using orange for 9 years.my last contract ended 3 months ago (24 contract ). im paying 30 quid per month over 2 years and they offered 25 quid per month ( 600 min any-unl landlines )and i said there are lower offers they made new offer 15 quid for 400 min (same deal at topic) with Lg optimus. So i declined .

phoned up the retentions about 3ish and was offered 800mins unlimited txt 500mb data with the htc desire for £17.77 a month 18mnths, rang them back about 5ish offered same mins etc offered me samsung galaxy s for £12.77 thought bargain will take it. is the samsung a better mobile than the desire

Hi,

I,ve been with Orange for well over 10 years. My last contract ended around 5 months ago & vie been paying around £25 p/m since. Called up retention team yesterday & first person I spoke to initially offered me a 24 month contract at £20 pm with Racoon 20 = 400 xnet mins, unlimited landline & txt & 500mb internet & Samsung Galaxy S free.

Alternatively, a free HTC Desire with tariff £17.85 pm, with same mins mins etc as above.

I asked if that was the best deal she could do with those phones and she offered :

Samsung Galaxy S - £15.32 pm, 100 xnet mins, unlimited landline & txt & 500mb internet.
HTC Desire - £12.50 pm same mins etc as the SGS. Again both on 24 month contract.

I called Orange back around 15 mins later and got someone else but still no improvement on initial offer. He referred to first offer and said that was the best deal I will get with anyone at Orange. He also told me the £15 pm tariff for the Samsung did not include unlimited txt but 300 txt per month and best he could do was throw in 500 more txt. So the deal he was giving me was a Racoon 15 + extra 50 xnet mins + 500 txt + Internet + the free Samsung.

He also confirmed that offers people get will differ person to person depending on their past tariff & usage.

Calling back & haggling didn't work for me but I got the Samsung Galaxy S free albeit with lower xnet mins!

I'll just have to make sure I call mainly magic numbers & landlines for next 24 months!!
