"A gaff on the help and support section of the not-so-bright carrier’s website leaked the photos, spec and how to guides for the new low-end mobile before it’s been official unveiled and we now know that the San Fran Mark 2will come with Android 2.3 Gingerbread as OS of choice powered by an 800MHz processor with 512MB of internal memory with Micro-SD support. The mobile also features a 5-megapixel camera with flash and auto-focus. Respectable spec for a wallet-friendly mobile gadget."

this is gonna get hot

Does it really come with AMOLED screen?

Is it worth upgrading from the SF1?

Think they missed a trick people are looking for 1 gig cpus these days, the monte did not sell well with a 800mhz cpu.

just wondering how long the unlock will take for this???

The Monte never sold because there was no unlock.

This may sell slow because of the same.

MHz is not everything, work per clock cycle and architecture is more important.

another hot unconfirmed deal

Maybe the cpu can be overclocked?

It looks to me like 95% of those features are already on the San Fran 1

thanks

Hmmm its only slightly better than the original san Francisco.

The original was 600mhz and this is only 200 more which is hardly noticeable, the os is still an older one when most are on 3.0+ and the camera is the only other improvement, up to 5 mega pixel from 3.2.

Really disappointing, would have expected least 1gig with more ram and up to date android.

Not as good as the san fran was when that was out.

I like how they make out that the Orange bloatware is super awesome.

Agreed!, I'd still by a monte, if they relaunched with a better cpu and an unlock.

Will it do flash? Iplayer etc.

Definitely worth looking into for people who don't already have a San Francisco. Rumours peg it as a ZTE Crescent

People are looking for 1080p aswell

Orange only do the TFT screen one, have not sold the AMOLEd for ages now

Nice spec,

A lot of pixels. Looking for a hi res cheap android device 800*480 may slow down that processor but guessing 800mhz is a newer gen cpu and more battery friendly.

cold just a rumour

This

If you have a SF then just update to ginger stir fry (2.3 gingerbread) and carry on as normal

If you have a Nokia 3210 then go for it

Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong.

If you don't know what you're talking about, please don't go and post any old ****, it just gets everyone else all confused.

Gingerbread is currently the most up to date version of Android for phones, clock speed is NOT proportional to performance, and the camera was where people started moaning, with the OG San Fran.

Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) is a tablet exclusive version. So, this is running the up to date version of Android although when ICS gets released it may get left behind. It's a nice device if you are looking for a new Android phone, not so much as a upgrade from the San Francisco 1.

I bet it's one of those 'Pentile' Amoled screens! It makes the screen look grainier than a normal 800x480 and text looks fuzzy!

Colours maybe punchier, but that's the only advantage over a conventional LCD screen imo.

Paddy_o_furniture

Will it do flash? Iplayer etc.

Im sure it will, the original SF plays flash and Iplayer

Hmmm.. Just ordered a monte carlo. Is this better?

No it doesn't, not out of the box anyway, the processor within the SF and this new model isn't officially supported by Adobe.

You can download a third-party (unofficial) .apk to get around the restriction but that's up to you.

Was in the Orange shop on Saturday (Wigan inside HMV) trying to sort out a browser issue with the OSF and the guy there showed me the dummy phones they had received, very similar to the old OSF in styling. He didn't have any specs, pricing or when the phone would be available, but he said before Christmas. If those specs are confirmed, it doesn't seem a great step up from the OSF. If it can be unlocked easily and cheaply then for £100 including top-up it should be a seller, otherwise I can't see it selling any better than other phones in this price bracket.

arm v6. no front facing camera. defo not worth the upgrade. but a good entry phone, if u r starting out on a smart phone and on a tight budget.
arguably the best phone for under £100?
