For those of you who missed the deal a few weeks back for it including the £20 top-up the price has dropped again. Great phone for the money, oh and in before the g300 is a much better phone

Great price but I would save a few extra quid and get the G300. I used to have a OSF and the looked into getting this but for the extra £20 or so you get a brilliant phone with the G300.8)

also the t-mobile vivacity is on offer for £62.99 if you'd prefer + the £10 top-up of course.

agree g300 in a different class

I'll admit the g300 is a better phone but its approx £33 dearer incl. top-up. I see this as a great android phone for a teenager or more tech savvy parent who might not need the improved features of a g300 as its perfectly usable.

isn't the vivacity the same phone as the OSF 2?

im sure everyone will agree that the g300 is a better piece of kit than the osf 2 but for £33.00 less inc £10 top-up and not too mention if it is similar to the original OSF it will be easy and free to unlock with a huge array of customisable roms etc. this is a hot deal

I've got the mk1 and more than happy with it...

Agree G300 is BEST.
But this has front facing camera which someone might be interested to do video call (G300 don't have front camera).

This is a really good deal but the phone has a very poor battery life. I wouldnt recomend it too others, i cant wait to buy something better and get rid of my one

Good find. Worth it at that price.

The battery life is fine, my girlfriend bought one when they were cheap from Argos a few weeks ago. I'd definitely recommend installing an Android ICS ROM on it though.

The £10 top up is annoying. I already use orange on contract but unfortunately my phones been stolen so the credit is useless!

you can sell it on some websites or you could keep it for orange wednesdays.

I have a OSF I and I have to say if you turn off the 3G (you can get a widget for it) the battery life is boosted massively. It used to be a chore to have to turn on and off every time but the widget means you can do it so quickly i'd recommend all android users do it.

I really want my OSF to bite the dust but until then I can't justify the purchase of another, regardless of that HEAT!

Here's a guide on how to root, update the rom and unlock the phone - community.giffgaff.com/t5/…15

I'm a bit of a geek and used to fiddling with phones, and did it in about ten minutes from scratch. Read the comments though, as the rom linked in the first post has a small issue, so I used a release called 'Fish'n'chips' (latest version here modaco.com/top…s8/) that is suggested on page 19 of the giffgaff thread.

Good price - I paid around this for my original San Francisco/ZTE Blade one year ago, and I've been tempted to update to the new one - especially if there's an ICS ROM for it. The Blade is an excellent phone, although I would complain about the battery life on it - I've had days where I've left the house in the morning with it fully charged, taken train journeys where I've used it for a couple of hours to text, send e-mails, browse websites and play games, and then get low battery warnings towards the end of the journey and end up not being able to call the people I'm going to meet. I keep a micro SD cable plugged into my computer at work to charge it up during the day, otherwise it won't last the evening if I use it on my commute. Would be great if the SFII improved on this, but I'm hearing conflicting reports. Asides from that, the SF is an excellent phone and I'd recommend it to anyone.

Fish and chips runs better on the OSF2

ICS is not fully developed/proven yet for this phone

Hard to beat the G300, heat added anyway

?? But why wouldn't you just buy a t-mobile vivacity for £59.99 and get the ten pounds quidco? Same phone for nearly £30 less.

All you lose is the orange high definition voice stuff and wifi phone calls surely?

Have this phone, presume it's a 'Mark 1' model, it is fine for my needs, occasionally it just switches off and I have to reboot it by taking out and putting back the battery - is this a problem with android phones , does anyone know.

No I disagree, she was using fnc 7 first but it had a lot of problems. The only thing that doesn't work in ICS is the hardware decoding.

Can't believe Orange SF deals still get voted hot. It should be cheaper than this now.

Where is the cheapest place to get the g300 then ?

so the g300 is better then but is the nokia lumia 710 better still for £110 from CPW

I have no idea why the G300 is a better phone because I have no experience with any other android phone. But I'm enjoying it so far, it's great to use. I ordered from very.co.uk, it's £99 at the moment, but if you haven't got a credit account with them then you can open one and get a further £30 discount bringing it £69, and I went through TCB so another £5.99 tracked, effectively bringing it down £63. OK then you have to add another £3.95 for delivery, and you may need to unlock it and that shouldn't cost more than around £5 (if your lucky you can get it done for free through vodafone like me).
Oh and no need for a top-up.

Actually , I bought my brand new g300 for £72 from isme, so this is dearer! not everyone will be as excellent as me and pay that low for a g300, but just wanted to rub some smugness onto this thread.

You are as awesome as me then?

The review below is taken from the Argos website - it made me chuckle - are they being serious???

"bought this phone for my gf as shes always playing with my iphone, no were near as good as an iphone but she loves it. very slim and light to hold and a few decent features on it but wont install gaming apps such as song pop. still worth the money and an ideal gift for a teenager until they can buy an iphone there selfs lol"

I just got one for my daughter today from Argos, £99. I didnt have to pay the top up as i was taking in a faulty galaxy Mini i got from them. I have just paid £3.95 online to get it unlocked. I have the S2 myself. The G300 is a really lovely phone with a big screen and the screen res is really good too. I could easy use this if didnt have the S2. Cracking phone!

Compared with the great many issues that FNC had, that's a minor problem.

not voted either way but as mentioned already the vivacity which is the same phone as the OSF2 (both based on the ZTE Crescent) is a little cheaper from T-mobile.

I have just bought G300 but cannot access Internet while I am out and about, had the phone unlocked on EBay.anyone help? By the way my 1st smartphone so am a bit out of my depth ,would really appreciate advice.

So, as the Android plebs always waltz into Windows Phone deals spouting nonsense, whose gonna start the slanging match over here? LOL
Er, fragmentation, have to use your own ROMS as stock is sh*te. Can't connect to the Internet without help (see above) terrible UI, even worse battery life. Tragic apps etc etc bla bla Bad security, zero privacy. All your surfing / emailing / www logged into the Googleplex.

Voted hot, its a super inexpensive capable Android phone for the cash money. Phones rock.
As Eric Schmidt once said, put your best people on mobile - its all about mobile.
Ask your local fireman.

Settings -> wireless & networks -> mobile networks -> tick "data enabled" and "enable always on mobile". Hope it helps.
