Rang orange to get myself a sim-only deal for my new pre-ordered Desire HD and managed to get 200 mins, unlimited texts 1gb internet for £5 a month!! tried to sell it to me for £20 a month first...

The only disadvantage is that it is an 18 month deal but thats fine for me, i dont need a rolling contract, and for £5 a month i wont complain!

0800 0790272 is the number i rang.

thought this was a great deal but its only available for current Orange customers coming to the end of their contract i think, but give it a go anyway and see what they say.

good luck!

how did you get it -- the cancellations did not know what i meant - no offer of 5 quid

need to do this I only get 50 mins and 50 texts and it is for 3 years!!

Hope you got a free phone too! That would be awesome.

This is a retentions deal, which are based on your spend over the last 6 months. It not a plan and it won't be available to everyone.

Ive been with Orange for 18 months but decided to leave as i just bought the desire hd so was looking for a sim only deal.
I rang them up and requested my pac code, they asked why i was leaving i told them im looking for a sim only deal and theirs are too expensive, they offered me 200 mins unl texts and 1gb internet for £20 a month. I told them Tesco, GiffGaff, T-mobile, 3 and Virgin all do better deals and quoted their prices and minutes etc
He put me on hold came back and said we can do it for £5 a month but its an 18 month contract, i said fine and he said it will start from the 3rd November. End of conversation!

No i didnt get a free phone as i just bought myself a phone.

Hope that answers peoples questions!

Don't understand why everyone is voting cold, its a great deal!

Sounds like a good deal and have voted hot because of this - £5 a month for that much stuff is a great price!

I'm in a similar situation... am just coming to the end of my Orange contract and am hoping to get a Desire HD but not on a contract. Can I ask where you got your one from? The few Desire HD packages I've seen seem a bit extreme and I like the idea of an unlocked phone without all the branding. Thanks!

heat added, and rhinos104 you've given full details, plus this tariff and how you got it could apply for many others on Orange.

i've pre-ordered the phone from play with cashback for £456 Unlocked with cashback(Topcashback), £470 without cashback.
And then i was at the end of my orange contract so i rang them up asking them to beat tesco, 3, t-mobile and giff gaffs deals etc and thats what they offered me, comes into effect from the 3rd November.

This is why its getting cold votes. Even if I was an Orange customer near the end of my contract I'm still not guaranteed this deal. Its personal for you.

I have only been on a £20 a month contract for 18 months which means pretty much every orange customer approaching their last 6 months of an 18/24 month contract can start negotiating with them.

Thought this is "hot uk deals" where you post up the best deals you can find? I'm simply giving people a heads up approaching the end of their contract, and who knows if your a new customer going to orange, ask them to beat Tesco/giffgaff/3 offer, maybe they will and you could get a similar deal?
