Yep, after 5 years the band are reforming to perform shows celebrating 20 years of their debut "Chime" (I swear time accelerates as you get older...20 years!)

What better way to celebrate than with this credit crunch chomping compilation to throw you back to the halcyon days of classic 90s (and on + on+ on) trance!

I posted and bought this a few months ago, but it never got past 80, which surprised me 'cos, this is worth £2.99 of anyones money. Hell, it's worth £2.99 for "Belfast" alone; and "The Box". And, as "Greatest" CD's go, this pretty much gets it right. Ofcourse, there are some missing, but aren't there always (perhaps a 2 CD set would be the answer)? Then again, any Orbital fan will have the majority of the best tracks. So, this is great for the novice, or in my case, great for the glove compartment of my car.
Still 0-0 BTW. Yawn.
Edit: Villa (City sign him in the Summer) has just scored a decent goal.
Jagielka found out at international level again.

Sorry Andy wasnt aware you had previously posted this, agree, with the length of songs its never going to be an exhasutive collection, but for £2.99 its gotta be worth it for Chime, their reworking of Dr Who theme tune, Belfast, Halcyon and The Box alone...and great as an introduction or for any cheap skanks that just taped all their stuff in their student days and needs a decent compilation!! Probably Orbital : The Works is a little more expansive but has some 7" mixes on it.

PS A tip for you Andy, you have mentioned on several occasions the glove box of your car stashes some CDs, would make a lovely CD collection for someone!...consider buying a faceplate removeable MP3 CD or DVD Player and have several or lots of albums on one CD :-D

Hot emin-8ing from here! (90's throwback joke)
This is a class collection for anyone who doesn't already have these on cd or vinyl format.

Considering a new car first mate. Drive a (shhh) Micra.
No, I keep Prince in my glovebox and bring him out to sing a medely of hits on long journeys.:p
No need to apologise. I posted it an age ago. Hopefully this post will get the heat it deserves.
Half time in footy. Off for a cig then back to watch the sub fest that will be the 2nd half.

Was discussing Orbital in the pub last night, my favourite albums are In Sides and Middle of Nowhere. Fave track is The Box, especially the 28 minute extended version

The Box

Great track indeed.

Who remembers Are We Here from Snivilisation?

I do, classic track, still remember the first time I heard the freak show build up for that track, superb!

As for favourite album, has to be the brown album for me, pure class from start to finish. This is a great collection though at £2.99, especially for anyone that never got into Orbital the first time around, oh, and if you get chance to see them live, do it!

Rep added for the brown album comment! I first experienced the brown album on my mate's dads uber expensive hifi on the same day I first experience mind altering substances - it's safe to say that was a very interesting afternoon.

I'm off to freak out to the input/output intro on my headphones!!

Nah, the freak show intro is the second track - I wish I had duck feet. Both good tunes though.

Can't believe no-one has mentioned the Green Album though, that's what got it all started for me - classic tracks like the moebius, desert storm, chime (of course) belfast and midnight.
Ahh, my lost youth :whistling:

I have fond memories of the Green Album. I went to Birmingham for a Gatecrasher event at the NEC and lost all my friends. Off my head on drugs I toured the car park trying to find them without success.

Eventually I found a group of strangers heading to Leeds that offered to drive me all the way home to Sheffield. I even got a free breakfast! (*ahem*).
They cranked up the subwoofer and belted out the Green album as we travelled down the motorway in glorious morning sunshine.

Oh to be young again.

Great to see so many Old skool Orbital fans on here, thanks for adding heat and sharing your memories guys!

You lot have just prompted me to dust off a few old albums.....................my thanks! Turning 40 and with 3 young kids it all seems a long time ago now...........happy days (from what I can still recall ;-)

You can probably work out from my avatar I'm a bit of a fan. I've pretty much got everything they ever did, including promo's imports from Japan etc, but one of my favorites Orbital tracks is off the soundtrack album they did with Michael kamen for the film Even Horizon called "forward decks" cracking tune. Then again weren't they all! Also loved the "vocal reprise" mix of the "the box" from the EP, utter genius when those Hartnoll brothers were together.

Saw them a number of time live, but the gigs at Glastonbury during the 90's have to be among the best the band ever did, they were the highlight of the festival for me, freakin awesome!! :-D:-D

It's up to 5.99 now - not really a bargain when its RRP is only 7.99 anyway
