I use the KT £1.75 version and it's great, it's not made from hydrogenated stuff like some so it's really good for you. The only thing you have to be careful of is the heat point, you can end up burning some things as this, like ground nut oil, has a higher heat point than the likes of say sunflower oil.

Best cooking oil is Virgin olive oil. Next is rapeseed oil. Coconut oil is very high in saturated fats bad for health and full of calories. It is solid at room temperature. Inside your body it will be solid as well. Just because it is not easily available in this country does not make it any special from health point of view.

Food Unwrapped did a good article on this.

Some of that is untrue. Get a pinch of coconut oil in between your fingers and it melts rapidly.

Not arguing about the benefits or the lack of the afore mentioned and yes I agree it will solidify at about room temperature but what I will say is that if your core body temperature is at about "room temperature" then you are already dead and as such have no worries about solidification of coconut oil.

What?? So anything that you eat which is solid at room temp will be solid again inside your body? Well, so what? You eat plenty of solid foods, unless you're on a juice diet? Secondly body temp is different to room temp so this isn't true.

They are mainly mono-unsat fats in coconut oil meaning its ideal for frying.

Saturated fats still have a bad rep. Fortunately that's slowly changing, but it'll take time.

I know that KTC coconut flour isn't good... It doesn't seem to absorbs liquids the same way other good quality brands do. Their oil may be different of course... But I won't be getting it.

But no denying that olive oil is best for cooking. No need to buy expensive coconut oil.

My room temperature is 17 degrees. Is that your body temperature or are you lying again.

Ahh good to see the health experts in here!
coconut oil has many health benefits, especially when cooking at high temperatures. Olive oil and rapeseed oil are the best to eat at LOW TEMP, at nigh temp they are carcinogenic, hence why coconut oil has become a big thing.

Anything you cook with for frying that starts solid is much better for you. Heating rapeseed oil and olive oil will create free radicals that can lead to heart disease and cancer.

if frying things at high temp (eggs, chicken), even butter (not margarine) is healthier than those oils.
do your home work!

It's easy to deny since it's actually pretty bad for you when cooked

So you were too lazy to read my post above?! Olive oil like any oil that is not solid at room temperature is unstable. Even when left in the sun it creates free radicles. So cooking with it definitely does. That leads to cancer. If you want a stronger argument just google it ffs. It's simply common knowledge now, no argument needed

Ok I mis read... I though you were talking about coconut oil and didn't realise that it was your response above. Wow though, quite an agressive response? No need to swear at me?

I actually know quite a lot about different fats and go to great lengths to get high quality fats (100% grass fed organic animal fats) etc. I never fry or cook with olive or rapeseed oil, only consume them raw.

The f in my ffs was flip:p
good job! I just get a little bit annoyed when I try to educate people and I get those responses:)

yip, good fats are important! Everyone thinks eating fats makes u fat but it's so wrong. Eating too many carbs does and sugar creates fat in your body.

I have been using coconut oil since i joined the gym and have a PT. she has told me to use coconut oil which is full of calories and saturated fats but obviously you dont cook with tons of it. It gives a very nice flavour for my food and even my children like it.
Anyway no need to argue about it. Hubby still swears at olive oil and swear at coconut oil. I like its taste and benefit. End of

i have seen this product at asda but i am using amazons deal which is like £13 but it is enough for a long time. It is organic and raw
