007ks have nearly doubled in price .. You could pick one up on a jubilee for £127 last Dec now the same watch is £245
Do Orient watches use Seiko hardlex glass? Thanks
The new model upgraded with sapphire glass went up to £240 last week. Now at £201 amazon.co.uk/dp/…_it Just gone down to £199 since i posted. I think they are watching

That's a seriously nice watch for the money.
I have few orients they are underrated watches.

Dont think so, my gen 1 Orient Mako certainly hasn't. Its just bog standard mineral crystal and scratches as easy as anything. Hardlex is definitely more scratch resistant.
Superb watches for the money, I paid £98 from Amazon for my Orient Mako 2 last September through a deal on here and it's timekeeping is better than a Rolex I used to own!
I had to initially adjust it because it was running +7.5 seconds fast each day but I've got it now running at minus -1.3 seconds a day

How did you adjust the time?

Brilliant watch, I have 2 orients and they are excellent. CreationWatches has it for £109 + postage (or pay VAT +Import tax) - so this price is a bargain. Heat.

If you have a steady hand it's done by removing the back cover and moving the adjuster TINY amounts in the + or - direction plenty of you tube videos available.
I downloaded an app called 'Clock tuner' and used a microphone on my phone to listen to the pulse of the watch to get the right amount of adjustment but be careful if you're too clumsy you'll damage the mechanism.
An app called Atomic clock and watch accuracy tool can be used to monitor its accuracy once you adjust it as seen below.

tx for the info. Iv'e got the barracuda with the same mechanism running plus 10. I'l have a go at adjusting it when it gets a bit older. Don't want to risk it yet

If it's a brand new watch I wouldn't try adjusting it yet because sometimes they need a few weeks to settle down and it may well become more accurate.

Sounds good advice. Iv'e had it about a month. just pulling the crown out for 50 secs every 5 days ain't a big problem. I'l look back on your post at a later date when i'm feeling brave. good info for anybody buying a mechanical tx.

Don't, it's a tad annoying as I'm looking to buy one soon. Eyeing up the new range of Seiko 5 Sports instead, they're only 100m but that's fine as I won't need to actually dive with it, and they have hand winding and hacking for a similar price.

If you want an SKX007, hold out a bit. Every time the discontinuation rumours appear the price spikes, and invariably the rumours aren't true and the price drops. People seem to believe the SKX will become a collector's piece, despite a bezillion of them being sold (true number).
Decent price and a nice watch, used to have one and enjoyed it.

One of the great things about this watch. You can buy a pepsi bezel and swap it over for little cost. It has a massive fan base. Loads of options. You can put a sapphire face on it if you want

Not really, thats about what they are worth, crappy inaccuracy movement. Just couse some mugs pay silly money does not mean they are worth it, as said previously, they must have made millions. Buy a turtle, far better than the SKX

Yeah but you got to have an skx in the collection at some point, it's watch law.

You can still get the SKX for £155 + £7 shipping from Singapore to UK (no customs if pick right shipping option).
Just found this same watch for £111 - shipping from Creation Watches in Singapore - never paid customs when using airmail (avoid DHL)

Same movement, same case, basically the same watch with different dials.
Pick which one you prefer the look of.
Does the ray 2 come with a sapphire option?
blackrat6215/08/2019 23:14

No, available aftermarket

Do you think the mako usa 2 is worth it for the sapphire crystal? I like the look of the ray 2 more
