Surprised they are allowed to call it a "Ghetto Blaster" these days
Wow, miss mine

they dont make anything like this any more

i might just get one for old times sake (_;)
lol... i remember i had a Sharp twin cassette that had something called 'APSS' which basically rewound or fast forwarded to the next track automatically...as long as the gap between tracks was long enough...:{

ahhh the days when i judged the quality of a stereo by the softness of the 'Eject'
I love anything like this!
Apparently they all have various faults though, like only 1 tape deck works, or the LCD clock doesnt work, or they make `humming` noises... etc. Maybe they were supposed to be returned to factory but MAXIM just never collected them.
Mine mine mine retro
Just snapped this right up! Thanks op

These one's have been opened and checked so should be ok, there have been some reports of one or more of the tape decks failing but this is down to the belt snapping (30 year old rubber) cheap to buy and easy to fix. The other known issue is the lcd clock you will probably need to replace the battery (30 year old battery)

So slip on the tracksuit throw down cardboard turn up the base and show your kids how it was done back in the day!

Wow, great find!

Oh yes they will - new stuff is coming out on tape now. Until the silliest of fads dies out. Wonder which will last longer, tapes or VR. Place your bets.

Now to find my erection section mix tape :-)
Anyone know if a turntable would work plugged directly in or would it need a preamp?

Did you break it by falling off the bed mid-coitus?
Cassette tapes are making a bizarre comeback:

Bet the sound quality is horrible....

Nostalgic indeed tho.

What an awesome find. To have a brand new one of these in 2016....it's the ultimate new retro boombox! Very cool. In one way, technology has moved on so much. Yet in another....it's not really that different at all.
It looks like the sort of thing people bought when they couldn't afford a decent ghetto blaster....I bet the sound quality is pretty crap.
Love the 200W claim.
If it were something like this......

Then i'd deffo be interested.
Nothing beat my Hitachi Superwoofer with 3D Bass!
It has SW!!!

It depends on the turntable, a DJ style turntable always needs a preamp, but a lot of turntables from the past 20 years that are made to be hooked up to stereo systems already have a preamp built in. Basically, you'd need to check.
Dual cassette players with high speed dubbing... time to make some new mix tapes! I might even go modern and break out my 90's collection.
This, and a £15 Chromecast from Currys.

Beat it, Sonos!

I heard on the radio this week cassettes are having a revival and are at a 20yr high for sales.

I personally would never consider going back to tapes as they were a crap medium imo.
tape doesn't jump when youre in the car

Last sold at 11:20 was for £34.95 but the listing shows £64.95 now. Looks like they proved too popular and the seller is trying to make a few pounds more...
