Can you actually swim with this?

Hot. I am using this watch for 5 months. Amazfit is Amazing . No regrets buying this.

I have one. Great watch but you cannot swim with it.

Looks like a good sports watch but I’m going to wait to see what amazon offers us on Black Friday before taking the plunge.

Good watch, much better than the moto sport I had. Bluetooth can be a bit temperamental though.

How does this compare with a Tomtom runner? I have lots of Xiaomi products so I am hoping it is great

I really like mine.

Pros-
Like the custom watch faces
nice ceramic edges

Cons -

sporadic notifications
touch screen isn’t as reactive as buttons. Bit slow to start / stop workout (I’m being a little picky)
Flat tire screen
silly cradle to charge means you can’t use any usb cable.

I can't swim without it.

Nothing says cheap tat better than a name like AMAZFIT

This is a brilliant smart watch. Under 70 bucks too. Hot

This is probably one of my best tech purchases in recent years. So good for the money. Syncs with Strava. Battery lasts for 4 to 5 days and that's including a couple of GPS tracked runs. Transflective screen that doesn't need a back light is brilliant.

Bought one for myself at the beginning of September. Its amazing.
Bought one for my mrs the end of september and it was faulty. Bluetooth was broke.

I sent it back for a refund and still have not got my money back.

Really bad customer service having to send them an email daily trying to sort this. They taking the Mick.

Great watch if it works.

Going to try and avoid Gearbest now!

Can't comment on the tomtom but I wouldn't replace my Garmin with this. For a start I'm not a massive fan of touchscreens on something this size, the last thing I want to be doing is messing around at the start and finish of a race trying to sort the watch out. Push button's are far simpler, especially when you're not thinking straight after a race. But I'd probably be happy using it for training. The only reason I got one was to listen to music on training runs, without having to cart a phone round with me, which it's fine for.

Xiaomi need to release a android watch and I'll be all over it

Great if you get one which works, nightmare trying to get money back if there's a problem. Do you feel lucky? I wasn't.

I'd agree with this. If you're a serious runner, then I think buttons are better than a touchscreen. To be quite honest, it can be a little bit of a faff stopping your run using the touch screen so the run time might be a few of seconds off. It does auto detect when you've stopped though (but again, this takes a couple of seconds)

If you're a casual runner (I do a few 5k park runs, and a few 10k), this watch is great value for money - looks good, you don't have to constantly charge it, works great as a watch, has some smartwatch functionality (message notifications, music controls etc)

I had no problems getting a refund for a £60 sports cam I bought from them, shot a quick vid showing the problem like they asked and they refunded the money promptly.

What happened to you?

I bought one and it's definitely one of my best buys of recent years. I'd definitely recommend it. The battery life is usually 4-5 days (less if you are regularly running of course), GPS + MP3 (via bluetooth) when running is great. I wasn't sure if I'd use it, but I never have it off.

It can be a tiny bit fiddly when trying to stop after exercise, but it's most definitely worth £68

I completely forgot that this happened to me! I got a defective watch and took ages to convince gearbest that it wasn't working. Sending it back is a complete pain - I think I paid about 15 quid or so for signed delivery (not tracked which would have cost about 40 quid). I had to chase gearbest for the refund as they didn't do it automatically. @JediX contact them as they might have actually got the package.

I also suspect that the watch I got had been a customer return as the box looked like it had been opened. I wouldn't be surprised if JediX actually got my watch or another customer return.

In the end I bought an amazfit from geekbuying instead. The standard delivery was much quicker (I think I got it in about 5 days or so)

How did you get refunded so quickly? Did you have to send it back? How much did it cost to send it back? How long did it take?

They didn't ask for it back and money was credited within the week. Didn't do anything special, initially just contacted them and they replied asking for a vid which I sent, apology and refund followed soon after. I might have been lucky but don't see any reason why I would've been and others not so.

When you turn the watch on for the first time a qr code pops up. You use the amazfit watch app on your phone to scan the code and it connects to the watch.

The problem I had was after scanning the qr code I got an error message stating the bluetooth on the watch was turned off. There is no way of getting past the qr code screen to turn the bluetooth on.

I immediately told Gearbest of my issue and they told me to send it back BUT I would have to pay for the shipping because it was my fault the watch was faulty. I refused and after a lot of back and fourth they agreed to cover the shipping. I sent the watch back to a UK address I was given and now it has conveniently been lost in the post.

Gearbest stopped answering my messages so after 2 weeks with no reply I've had to escalate through PayPal. Can't be bothered anymore.

The watch packaging i got looked in perfect condition. It was the black strap.

It's a pain communicating with Gearbest because there is a bit of a language barrier and massive time difference. So it takes a full day to get a reply which may not completely make sense.

I do like Gearbest. But getting the money back for this particular problem has been troublesome because the watch does turn on. It is just basically bricked!

does anyone one if there is a difference between the version described here and this version (described as international)?

Well they asked me to send it back, so that's probably the difference in our experience. Would have been brilliant service if they'd just refunded me the money without me having to send it back!

The watch I received had exactly the same issue.

There is no way battery can last 35 hours with continuous GPS and HR monitoring, not even top specs Suntu or Garmin reach that xD and cost 4 times more

I've not tried. It uses about 10% battery per day with continuous hr monitoring.

I only use gps when running.

Well daily HR is not that "continuous" since it takes your HR from time to time (depends on brand, if I have daily HR on my Tomtom is usually 10 secs every 5 minutes). What I understand from the advert is that you can get 35 hours battery of continuous usage (let´s say running using gps + HR for 35 hours), which is not true. I doubt if you can get even 10.
But if not constant tracking, yeah, you´ll get that.

Evidence from users on the amazfit facebook group would suggest that it's nearer to 36 hours than to 10.

From the first post I found:
"My first 100k ultra run with Huami amazfit pace. In start 98% battery. In finish 42%..." then he posts a screenshot of the run data. He ran for nearly 15 hours. GPS on, heart rate monitor on.

Another user ran for 7 hours 37 minutes and used 30% of the battery. (this guy was a serious runner - he ran 98.66km in that time! Good god).
Edited by: "lutin" 10th Nov

I've found that using the mp3 player for about 1h 30m used about 25% battery. This included continuous heart monitor. Mp3 seemed to Cain it.

Gone up to £88.63

My order has been at processing for 10 days now. Anyone else getting the same?

Nothing says cheap tat better than a name like AMAZFIT

cheap maybe, tat not so. It's made by a company that is the second largest manufacturer of wearable tech, paired with Xiaomi, another huge Chinese tech manufacturer. Being Chinese, they have no need to break into our Western markets.

What you see here is simply evidence of how we pay waaaay over the odds for our kit, and as consumers, we're easily swayed by the advertising behemoths such as TomTom, Suunto, Garmin, Fitbit, Apple, Smasung etc.

For example, I'm using a Xiaomi Redmi 4 pro (or prime) mobile. It cost me £125 delivered. It's pretty much everything I want in a mid to low budget phone, including back to the good old days of not concerning myself with when I charge it (it can easily go deep into day 3 for me, with GPS on, BT on etc). The spec at the time was exactly that of the MOTO G5 plus (iirc?) which was available at about £220. Oh, except it has the magnetic compass unlike the Moto (deal breaker for my sat nav use).

I would highly recommend anything Xiaomi, and certainly wouldn't be swayed by the price being too low or by a Chinese brand name (let's face it, the western world has it's own examples of rubbish foreign brand names).

I love how people can't believe that Xiaomi can be better than their expensive Garmin As per my other post - my Xiamoi phone lasts for bloody days with everything switched on! As I sit here at 16:37, my phone was last charging this morning before work. In that time, with gps and bluetooth on, I've read personal emails throughout the day, chatted via whatsapp with my wife a lot (baby's ill ) phoned my brother and mum for a short chat, checked some apps, sent some texts and shown some photos to my dad.... It's on 82%

I'm a massive convert and will def be getting this watch. Seriously guys, stop being hoodwinked by the big brands....

Bought one on promise of next day shipping. 48 hrs later, nothing. Emailed them and got the reply they have no stock.

They are still showing as shipping next day, despite having no stock!!!

i agree about touching screen is not reactive when you touch to wake it up ,but button is ok for it,if you have problem with touching screen not functioning nicely ,hold to button and wait to see shut down appears, keep hold still,a few second later it will restart, your watch screen will response better.
