I'm about to order the 6/128 version , does it do over the air upgrades?

I paid £160 - had a Voucher from the Seller. Got the natty Blue version! Goldway on AliExpress are selling them for £166 delivered - £160 for the Gold one. The additional RAM/ROM is well worth it. You can get the 4/64 Global Version, but the 6/128 version has the Global ROM flashed onto it - but there's no problems at all if you buy from a reputable seller.

Thanks for the link. I am a bit nerdy and spent a couple of hours last night going through ALL the Max 3 deals on HUKD and the general consensus is to buy from a reputable dealer ant OTA upgrades should be fine. Thanks for confirming. And I apologise to anyone reading this who might be looking at the phone on the deal as opposed to what I am discussing..if that makes sense :-)
I have the original Mi Max and like it. Would a Mi Max 3 be a good upgrade? Would I notice much difference other than the bigger screen?

You're welcome. I bought my Max 2 over 2 years ago (from a reputable seller on AliExpress) - again, it was CN Version with flashed Global ROM - and no problems whatsoever in all that time re: Updates etc. I'm loving the Max 3 - was able to download all my Google Apps I have on the Max 2 automatically. Plus it has B20, whereas the Max 2 didn't. Was waiting for the Max 4, but it may not be arriving this year, so plumped for the Max 3.
Just seen cashback available via topcashback and Quidco.

Good question - I never had the Mi Max, but the Max 3 is a definite upgrade from the Max 2. @lianne21 might be able to answer that question, as she has the Max but was considering the Max 3.

Ah right. I wasn't 100% sure although I did hear a rumour. Shame as it's a cracking series of Phablets.

Really. Such a shame . Typing this on max 3 and it's brilliant.

I have a max 3 and Netflix working fine here. Just installed the official app and it has always been ok, no work around or anything. Just saying so you know it does work, sorry to be of no further use!
I assume it's because i brought the 128gb version which was never official realised in europe. everything else works perfect but for some reason it says the app is incompatible as does the web app. Bit of a pain and just wondered if anyone else had the same issue.

I had the Max 1 for almost 3 years since launch, I was always waiting for a version with an improved camera so I skipped the Max 2. Since the Max 3 launched I've been waiting for the price of the blue version to drop, finally got one about 3 months ago and it's a good upgrade, better camera, louder speaker, more responsive and I find the new size is better to hold, Max 1 in the drawer as a standby.
For me it's the perfect phone, only thing I'd add is the capability for dual SIM and a memory card.
I now have a good clear silicon cover and an excellent Nillkin screen protector so hopefully it'll last year's like the Max 1 till a suitable replacement becomes available.

I have managed to NOT buy.
My original Mi Max is still working fine.
When it finally breaks I will replace it then.

But I reserve the right to change my mind on the slightest whim....
Thanks to all who replied to my query

Yes - from memory, the Value was marked at $19. The route was via Singapore and it took 5 days to go from Singapore to the UK. Hope that helps.

Save all your junk in the truck eg: back up to google (if you have anything on it and its not synced to the cloud already!) to your google account, then remove your google account from the Mi Max 3 (and any others you have and know the log in's to!!) and do a full factory reset on it, once it has got to the factory start up step, soft restart the phone, once it has restarted, add your gmail account again, then reinstall the later build Netflix app from google play (not the one you had on your google account prior to setup, that was then updated 3 or 4 times by ota's) and then once installed, soft restart the phone, do not add any screen pin or security to the phone if it asks, then start Netflix again, then add your security if you use/need it

Fab, yes indeed, it does, I noticed that a lot of the approved AE stores are shipping, via a faster route since June and wondered if its the mark down that is allowing them to do so, the 5-6 days send, is half the normal send and when its on 17track or chinaES api tracking, they only show / arrive, under $27.43 including export duty at their end

Seems they have figured out, how to play eGlobal / Toby Deals / BangGood / GearBest at their own "EU forwarding" game, very successfully and cost effectively, I think they will have EU "sheds" of phone stock, sent 24/7 to them, when the UK hits no deal brexit in 9 weeks, to then send to a "different" country, eg the UK, after that, but still have it marked as "Singapore" !!

Well done! I was waiting for the Max 4 to be released, but from the looks of things, Xiaomi are discontinuing the whole Series, which is a real gyp. I wanted to make sure I got the Max 3 then before Brexit kicks in. Glad I did too.

Edit: When I ordered the Max 2 in 2017, it DID take longer than 14 days to arrive!

Yes, they have certainly alienated the Mi Max gang and unless they have a "secret" sauce department, there will be no more, they make so, so much more $ with the K and 9 series, why bother anymore I guess!!

They will be moving onto the CC and the CCx phones, where as the Redmi "niche" will take up the slack with anything meaty!!
Got my Max 3 yesterday so took exactly 14 days.
I have the Max 1 and this is faster and much more comfortable in the hand due to different aspect ratio. I paid no customs and I've bought approx 50 items from China now. Was delivered by royal mail and tracked all the way..

This is the Chinese version with global ROM and it works perfectly over here. I received my OTA update within 10 mins of putting my sim card in. It works perfectly on 4G and I have full phone signal.
All banking apps work and there is absolutely no difference between this and my global version.
I paid £138 and I consider this an absolute steal at this price. This may well be the last Mi Max and I'm glad I got one at such a bargain.

If you're considering this, go for it, you will not be disappointed
