Use code MISGFUK to drop the price.

Personally I use the gateway built into the smart camera. However this is a decent price for anyone who wants to give the camera a miss or has problems with it. Ideal to go with the Aqara window/door sensors posted earlier. Needs an adaptor as it'll come with a Chinese plug but they can be picked up for no money.

Sorry, not directly related but which camera has the built in hub please?
Thanks, been waiting for this to go on sale.
Does this have a UK plug fitting?
Dammit. Paid about 20 a week or so back - been playing with it today and yesterday when it arrived. Really didn't expect it to go much lower. Great bit of kit and a I'd recommend it without hesitation.

No. It's a Chinese plug so you'll need to pick up an adaptor. You can pick them up for a couple of quid on ebay or grab one at the same time from Gearbest.

Nope... And the idea of how far it would stick out with adapter put me off pulling the trigger on this for a while but I decided to get a Xiaomi mini power strip which I use with an adaptor instead (and might replace the plug on that with a UK anti-surge 5amp plug in a bit)
I've got two yeelights and the da fang camera, both of which I can control using the app as well as Alexa; just wondered, why do we need the hub?
Already got one great bit of kit. Tempted to get another
isn't this needed for motion & other sensors
Would someone be able to answer this please?

I already have a hub, and it is working fine with a number of door sensors, pir, etc. I want to increase the range though, so can I just buy another hub, place it in the garage, and then pair sensors to that? There is WiFi in the garage for it to connect to. Thanks in advance.

Yes.
Won't there be customs charges for this?

Not sure which adapter plug you mean...have you got any links to it please?

It would qualify as it is over £15 - £3 VAt and £8 admin charge. But Gearbest are likely to mark this at less than $15 so it will in all probably not get charged. Choose the basic shipping option - never ue DHL as this increases the risk (and they charge £11 admin).

How exactly do you control camera by Alexa?
On Echo Show?
Can some one clarify if this hub can be connected to the water sensors? (I purchased one a few weeks back)
Well I've bought this today and three door/window sensors.
I already have Hue sensors for my lighting so don't think I need the Xaiomi sensors.
Don't really have a need for a water sensor either.
What other interesting things can be bought Xiaomi wise for this gateway?
Wouldn't mind a security cam.
Anyone got any advice?
Or maybe a link to a discussion thread for these items?
Much appreciated...taa

I didn't mention anything about Alexa. I am saying this gateway can be used to control the smart curtain motor. you can control the opening or closing of the curtains using the Mi home app, you can set timing too to auto close or auto open.

Sorry, I checked YouTube and I think Alexa can control them or similar ones.
The curtain motor would be useful for someone who's got disabilities.

Alexa does not work with Xiaomi hub, however if you have a Samsung Smartthings then you can use that as the hub for the Xiaomi devices and that works with Alexa.

This is true at the moment but hopefully they will add all their devices to the Singapore and Europe servers which will support alexa and ittt. But I wouldn't suggest anyone buy this stuff if they want to primarily use with alexa until that happens

That's pretty much what I started with (albeit only one yeelight bulb atm). The gateway (or the Cam mentioned earlier) is only needed for the range of Occupancy and environmental sensors Xiaomi produce and to create "if this then that" style protocols with them.

This is the one I use for the gateway. I have it plugged into a surge protected 4 gang. It's a bit bulky and takes over two sockets unless the plug next to it is on the thin side. The adapters can be picked up in poundland or any store with a decent hardware section though.

I have the Xiaomi equipment separate to the Yeelight's and Alexa at the moment. It's slightly annoying as you can't synch the lights to work with the Mi Home app otherwise it all fits nicely. As mentioned above the functionality will be added to the Singapore server at some point. How long that will be is anybody's guess..

Well I have the three door/window sensors coming too so can basically use it for this purpose for the time being.
I have a couple of yeelight bulbs too I can link to it. (Or can you?)
When you register for the Mi Home app do you need to choose the Singapore server?

You can link the Yeelight's to the Gateway and use them with the sensors but then Alexa won't be able to see them.
The rule with the Xiaomi equipment tends to be anything that is stand alone that will work with Alexa goes on the Singapore server while anything that needs a hub goes on the mainland China server.

I currently have my Yeelight's on the Singapore server to work with Alexa and everything else on the Chinese server. Hopefully it won't be to long before everything will work from the Singapore server. There's some good news in that the gateway is now recognisable on the Singapore server, but as yet still not functional. Baby steps and all that.
another things keep in mind that when u setup automation do with chiness time. +8 gmt . so far i couldn't find out to setup time zone. no way to work with alexa if u choose CN server. i heared ppl have success with singapore server and yeelight.
Thanks - been waiting for a deal on this and look forward to connecting it to my home assistant setup.
Ordered more water sensors yesterday, this morning suspended one over the bath in a bag turned the tap on and went back when the alarm on the gateway went off, hey dear like a kid with a new toy.

I need some taps that remotely switch off when the alarm on the water sensor goes off hey maybe the taps could work with the temperature sensor and adjust the taps for the right water temperature.

My wife says I'm getting lazy what! with all the work and putting into this home automation thing she's joking
