They generally need to be able to receive a reasonable wifi signal before they can boost it. So if you position it in the one corner of the penthouse suite where you get good reception you should then be able to connect with ease everywhere else.

Could it be used on your home wifi to boost the signal?

That's what it's for.

great price, these are really good and easy to set up...while usb is usefull its also restrictive if you dont have usb sockets around your house...

So the Americans have my browsing history, assuming the Russians too along with the UK, might as well give it to the Chinese....

I jest of course, I love xiaomi products, got the fitness band, yeelight. Very good company who are producing some awesome products.

Anyone got one of these? How do these differ from say powerline adapters?

Could it be powered through a mains power source?

How good is this?

I was looking at a mesh system but if this works then could be a very cheap alternative

You'd want the amplifier to have a good signal to amplify otherwise it's pointless improving speed at a distance. Regardless of the signal from your devices to the amplifier.

Can you connect this router to WiFi networks with a web login page (eg hotel wifi)?

Shouldn't be a problem. Once the device is setup - you would use the web login as normal on your laptop or phone etc.

When my broadband instalIation was delayed I had to use something similar to this for a month to connect to my neighbours BT wifi hotspot using my login details via the BT web portal.

I was looking more that you could log in to the web portal within the router config. Then you could connect multiple devices to the router without having to individually connect each one. I know there's a few routers that have this option, not sure about this one though

It depends on how its set up as to whether it will work for more than 2 devices. If its just a pass through router then it will still be limited to 2 devices.
