Voted hot but they ought to stop increasing the number of cores when they would get better performance of a lower number of more powerful ones

This is the Mediatek version, generally buggy and inefficient hence so many cores. The Qualcomm Redmi Note 3 Pro is a better buy or waiting for the Qualcomm version of the Note 4.

MTK devices generally always have issues, drain more battery and rarely get updates.

Does anyone know if it has Band 20. T.I.A

To be fair, the camera was pointed out as the weak link in the Note 3 Pro but the phone still gets hugely positive feedback, I doubt the camera on this one is any worse.

People who don't want to pay 4 times as much?

To be honest this and the note 3 before are great devices but need a little messing to make the most of them since they are made for the chinese markets.

Deca core, it's like razor blades, how many do you really need? Are they going to put little cushions to rest your ear on, or a bit moisturiser... Getting silly...

Realistically, how long do they really take to arrive? 20-40 days for free shipping seems exaggerated.

To be honest no idea,I seem to remember from other posts on here they are normally quicker.
You can normally go for expedited delivery but that pretty much guarantees customs charges being levied

2 weeks on similar phone for me recently

12 days for my Redmi note 3 pro from China

hard to see advantage over RN3 note pro, the battery life is jaw dropping on it and with great performance

I have been using this phone for over a phone now, bought it in Hong Kong on the day when I was on holiday over there. can't fault it. beat my 32 GB 3 Gb ram LG3 in all aspects.

I ordered my Redmi Note 3 Pro from Ali press on

still v happy with my note 3 pro. This isn't an upgrade at all.

I ordered my Redmi Note 3 Pro from Ali express on 28Sept and it arrived on Tuesday so 13 days. very happy with the phone. it was the global edition and a doddle to set up. the tracking info telling me where my phone was in transit was impressive. I would recommend the handset and Aliexpress. I get the impression Aliexpress is a kind of Chinese equivalent of amazon.

bad formatting in the spec list above, 4g/fdd = uk lte, but no band 20 so no 4g on o2, tesco, giffgaff, etc

They don't sell anything themselves, so more like eBay but without the bidding - everything is 'buy it now', & the more you buy the less it costs.

Exactly, and only partial 4G on Three. If you can live without 4G, are prepared to reflash a ROM to remove Chinese spyware and fiddle around to get the Play Store working on it, and have no/ little warranty then it's great.

Not for me, but heat for the deal.

Just received this model from Gearbest, took 7 days with the 7-14 day middle speed tracked post option. UK part of the delivery came via Yodel with no customs charges.

First impressions , fantastic handset and better than my HTC M8 . A days tweaking and Miui 8 is better than Sense , although the lack of an app drawer is odd. Will play some more but can always change Launcher.

Google Play was already side loaded , so setup a breeze. Battery still running at 30% after 24 hours. Camera seems more solid than reviews suggest, certainly good for a midrange phone.

Can't think of a much better buy for £150 sim free. Heat from me.

Was virus and spy ware sideloaded as well by Gearbest?

Just put the apps you rarely use in 1 folder. That's what I did. That way you create your own app draw. App draws are pointless when you think about it though

Actually my mistake Miui 8 Global rom has play store and Google apps pre installed. Scans clean but if you are still worried install a new Rom or don't buy one?

So this or the Redmi Note 3 Pro? Is this worth the extra £? So many different ones to choose from!

Oh and can anyone point me in the direction of a good tablet for about £60, I dont mind if it a Chinese one.

Thanks

Anyone thinking of getting the note 4 or 3,you should consider the redmi pro.
It just dropped in price officially by 400 rmb, about £50. That means the 64gb version is roughly the same price as note 4. Better camera and better screen.
Expect to see the price from Chinese sellers to drop, I side loaded play services and store on the official Chinese romance, works fine

Never had a Chinese romance lol.

I have had a redmi note 3 and liked it apart from its creaky build due to plastic top/bottom. These note 4's and redmi pro seem to have solved that.

I am tempted by the redmi pro due to liking oled screens. Though the seem to have less support. Whats the batter life like on it?

May be tempted when its available for £150 or less but can't see it anywhere for that price yet apart from oppomart has the 32gb one for £138 but not sure I trust them after reading reviews.

Want to replace my tired Nexus 4. Been thinking of getting the Vodafone smart ultra 6 but these Xiaomi look more value for money (although carries the risk of dealing with the Chinese sellers for warranty). Light user, moving from GG to Life mobile. Will be monitoring a gray /black (if exists) version up to £150.....

Abu other recommendations?

He He, Chinese rom. Battery life is OK, not great it will last a day.
The screen is really good and no lag so far.
Usually has around 1gb ram available after installing the usual apps
Loading play services was as simple as searching for play store on Baidu and installing the app, you can unistall nearly all the bloat without rooting. Things like the MI app store and MI videos can't be removed but they aren't intrusive

May get one when it goes sub £150. I think you can install the eu rom which is cleaner.

Someone with one of these or their earlier phones, are they genuinely on par with phones we have here? Currently got Moto X play, but it's worth about £150, so can sell and buy one of these

Yeah they are, I had a redmi 3 and it was very good. Memory management lets it down though, so after a few weeks of use and several app installs it lagged. That and the camera wasn't as good. Otherwise build quality is as good as the big companies, the software runs well and is on a par with touch wiz, includes some useful app management stuff and permissions.
Sticking on the Chinese rom seems to bring a few ota updates, I had a global rom on the 3 that needed updating to fix that memory problem.
I think a lot of their phones are tremendous value
