Dropped another few quid + the code will knock even more off. Looks quite good spec for the cash really. Nice and small as well, unlike my old Edimax.

Until yesterday it was selling for £19.14 without any code. App which comes is in Chinese and you have to select Mainland China to setup this camera. Very cheap for the price considering specs. I did some search and found that Xiaomi is going to release an international version. So holding my purchase.

Good price for 1080p

someone posted this the other day from lightintthebox but I couldn't find and decent reviews or sample video

how does recording work on this? what options do we have ?

No dialogue it seems. But has mobile footage off the camera. Seem decent, just low fps motion blur.

18 min review. Unsure if it has any video of camera footage.

Ugly shape and white - made by Apple? (_;)

Gearbest have plenty of alternatives at various prices if anyone is interested http://www.gearbest.com/ip-cameras-c_11243/

I would prefer a camera with pan and tilt included.

Do these record motion detection to play back for free? or do you have to subscribe to something?

I've got the iSmart Alarm version and it works very well - excellent picture quality. About to move to a new home and leaving my iSmart set up at my folks place, so ordered a couple of these to try out, voted hot!

The iSmart Alarm version does this(saves to cloud and sd card), so hopefully this does too.

Thanks for the good info.
Fed up of half baked eastern tat.

Can I buy a few of these for around the house and toggle from camera to camera easily? Or have to pair each device separately?

1 x Needle

That's to leave outside so the smack head doesn't break in I guess.

I'd always be worried about these cheap cameras (and other IOT tech) feeding stuff back to chinese servers

I read a nerdy review of a smart lightswitch once that was pinging data back to china and basically leaving a huge hole into your network if the manufacturer ever got hacked

Cameras like these powered the DDoS attack in October, the Chinese ones are not worth it. Buy a decent camera and put a strong password on it. Then scan it with OpenVAS.

These look very good.... Got a few xiaomi products and they are great quality. Would be nice for the home app to be in English though.

You wouldn't have to, it's wireless

Would this work with Poe? And would it work pointing through a glass window or would the infrared get messed up?

Stay away from Android devices.

Any chance you can share your source for that information please? I have two already shipped from Gearbest of these ones but if a global version is coming I won't buy any more, I'll wait for that and then sell these when I can replace them with the global version and get the extras I want then as well.

can it save on ftp/smb?

USB power, wireless network and no Ethernet port I believe so no to PoE. Definitely no to behind glass with night mode active, all cameras with IR night vision would reflect off the glass. However, if this can be turned off in the app it would be fine but would not switch to night mode, I'll test this myself when it arrives. Of course you could do what I did on another and block the IR LEDs with some very thick black insulating tape (multiple layers probably needed to completely block it).

Very interesting!! I've got 2 digoo BBM1 and I'm thinking of sacking them off too! Going to try this OpenVas first

Will keep the baby nice and warm when it sets on fire. Made in sweatshops by five year olds.

X) let's hope it is then. if not the fire brigade will be on speed dial!

I had two of those too, sold one and ripped one apart to play with. Taped over the IR LEDs as if you unplug the board it is in permanent 'night mode' giving a black and white image during the day. Not a perfect solution to point out a window but ok.

Yeah, I also tried an Sricam SP012. I found both had advantages over the other, but for my needs preferred the Digoo. I have ordered a Digoo BB-M2 to try as well but now it looks like these Xiaomi ones will turn up first anyway.

I think we all he meant this is a product for the Chinese market, with no English instructions, no CE security certification etc.

Just like the Chinese phones, you might say "all phones are made in China" but that doesn't mean a phone in a Chinese written box with a Chinese menu, with no Google Play Store or Apps, emitting whatever emissions are allowed on the Chinese market and so on is the same as the CE-marked phones that are build for the EU market.

Put one of these up our back passage that wasnt lit. Never looked back!.

Cost 99 Yuan (£11) in China full RRP from Xiaomi so although it's cheaper than the previously posted deal it's not that cheap. Should be under a tenner as there is already a successor.

Gutted mine shipped a few days ago at £5 more.

Anyone know how to secure these in case xiaomi get hacked. I guess, the video is hosted on their website. Apologies, I am new to ip cam.
