Will need the Xiaomi Mi Smart WiFi Remote Control Multi-functional Gateway which is currently available for £15.28 (credit to OdhranC). Code still valid as purchased the gateway this morning (15.11) Link.

Decent price for the body sensor. I've not yet tested but hopeful that it will perform well.

But one is a motion sensor, one is a bridge? Not sure I see the comparison here?

How would these fare for home security, can anybody comment?

These pair with Smartthings with some tinkering.

I believe Chris_Kane-11544591047657 is making a comparison is against the Xiaomi Gateway vs Samsung SmartThings bridge.

I'm struggling to pair it with SmartThings

Has anyone managed to connect this (or other Xiaomi smart devices) directly to SmartThings?

You need to add the device handlers for them, have you done that? They're not the easiest things to add and it can seem quite overwhelming what you need to do, but they do work really well when paired correctly.
There's a thread here with lots of information community.smartthings.com/t/r…576

I'm using lots of these myself (door contacts, motions, temps) If you need any help with anything pm me.

No, don't PM him, keep it public here so that we can all read!

Can these sense if somebody is stationary in its field of view, or do they only sense movement?

I want to use one to trigger an extractor fan if somebody stays 'in place for more than 1 minute in the bathroom.....

so, you missed it at £6.96 a couple of days ago then ?

Ha. It's not difficult and everything is in the thread and forum I linked to this post definitely isn't the place to do it

Anyway, these work quite well, and the light sensor is good for triggering a smart bulb when it gets dark.

The sensor itself can't do that, it's just movement (motion/no motion) but you could for example, using smartthings and CoRE/webCoRE create a 'piston' that can be as simple or complicated as you wish, using conditional statements to accomplish the trigger you've described
I don't know about the Xiaomi gateway though.
