More air purifiers are sold in China than in any other country. Air quality is a matter of life and death in China.
This is specially the case in the large cities, where it isn't uncommon to see families using multiple purifiers at home while checking their air quality (PPM) meters regularly. Many Chinese know their purifier specs the way we know the specs of say TVs. There are Chinese forums dedicated to air purifiers.

Xiaomi are selling in a market crowded with competitors and buyers who know what they're buying. Believe me, you cannot go wrong with most air purifiers from China.

As for Xiaomi, I presume you've not heard of them.

Do you really need one of these in the UK, unless I don't understand its purpose.
I bought one of these from gearbest a while ago. Very good product, and nice quality. The app is English as well unlike some of the other Xiaomi products. I have issues with sinuses and it definitely helps. Also did some silly tests with smokers, burnt stuff in the kitchen, and paint fumes. It was all gone within few minutes.

Ordered from China through Gearbest in November, standard shipping took 6 weeks but no charges. £84 I think.
Fab price!

Interesting to have read elsewhere on a few hukd's that banggood have been banned (( cannot see anywhere it states officially )) as a linked seller on here, wondered if anyone knew or will gearbest & aliexpress go the same way soon???
FAQ for Original Xiaomi Smart Mi Air Purifier

Does Xiaomi smart Mi air purifier has CE certificate?
There is no CE certificate.

I'm wondering HUKD is a popular site all the way over there in China

A++++++++++++
I voted hot but honestly you don't need it in UK. I use this in my India home and functionality wise it's very good.

FAQ for Original Xiaomi Smart Mi Air Purifier …FAQ for Original Xiaomi Smart Mi Air Purifier Does Xiaomi smart Mi air purifier has CE certificate? There is no CE certificate.:(

CE certification only applies to products sold, manufactured in, or designed to be sold in the European Economic Area.

This product is not officially available in Europe thus it never went through European certification.

It was however tested by ‘Shanghai General Station of Quality Supervision Inspection on Environmental Protection Products’ for clean air delivery rates and formaldehyde flirtation efficiency.
I have one of these and the 2S version and they are very good, the amount of dust they attract is quite surprising

True though.
The only thing that product does it waste electricity and filters, oh and money.
Quite fancy a air purifier as have had bad asthma all my life, would this be any better than say this: amazon.co.uk/Lev…ome
I've had less problems with Ali and Gearbest than eBay UK. Just taken delivery of £150 order from Gearbest today (no duty) and very happy with item as expected.. If I were in the market for an air purifier, I'm sure the Xiaomi one would be top notch as per all their stuff I've bought.
Am I missing something I can't get free postage it's at least £6 from an eu warehouse

The Xiaomi is magnitude more powerful. The flow rate for the one you linked is only 68m3/h, the Xiaomi one is 380m3/h. The one you linked looks like a decent purifier but only suitable for a small room. The Xiaomi can be used to clean the whole house.
£4.50 quidco too.
What is the difference between this and the pro version?

What is the difference between this and the pro version?

The pro version can cover a larger surface area and clean more air quicker than this version it also has a OLED screen which displays information that can also be seen on the App, it is also physically bigger than this unit.

It's best to base your decision on the area you need covered, I have the 2S version which is similar to this but with the OLED display in a bedroom and it is more than enough, I have used mine everyday since November and I have definitely noticed a difference, I am quite prone to sore throats / coughing at night and this seems to have reduced that drastically, it captures alot of dust and also quickly gets rid off smoke, deodorant and other substances in the air, the purifier also kicks in when my dog is in the bedroom and has a shake about / scratch.

If anyone needs air purifier. John lewis has thi bionaire one. I got baby version of this and its good

True though.

Although you could claim placebo with an adult; I doubt anyone could claim it with a toddler.

My daughters lungs were damaged by an NHS injection; they were worried she would be very premature after my wife started bleeding 2 1/2 months before her due date; the injection helps the child breathe if born early, but causes life long damage.

Every night, no matter how much we cleaned her room, she would start coughing her lungs out.

I bought a cheap air purifier and placed it in her room, directing the airflow over her bed, and she stopped coughing.

If I turn it off, or forget to clean the filter, she starts coughing again.

For someone without asthma, or other breathing issues, yes, it is a waste of money; but if you have issues, a purifier is worth the expense.

Even if it's placebo... Placebo has been shown to work.

If they buy it, and their symptoms improve... What's the difference?

I don't think that's so important in the UK. Also you can set the PM limits from the app to keep it on high speed mode when the PM level reaches above certain parameters , it's not really an issue.

GearBest have 3 types not changed my filter yet been on automatically since Christmas day. Filter is half used it thinks 74 days till tells me I should replace but it's got that filter cover on so will just bin cover add a new cover in a couple of months and reset. I brought a replacement filter too was about £25-30. Am happy with mine. To be honest also use it to keep an eye on temperature in house and humidity as my house has really dry air at the moment.

I think the fact that the particulate sensor is inaccurate and leaves the unit crippled and not able to be used on its automatic setting quite significant.

As you say the only option is to leave it on full power via the settings as boosting to full only lasts 3 hours, on full it's running at almost 70db which is the same as a vacuum cleaner.

db levels: tlc-direct.co.uk/Tec…htm

There is nothing wrong with air purifiers but there are much better air purifiers available than buying this poor quality one that has to be overridden to work effectivly, is noisy and costs £30 every 4-6 months for a new filter.

gearbest.com/Mi-…ar/

It's also not a simple case of "not important in the UK", Southampton for instance is one of the most polluted cities in the UK, if you live near a busy road or other forms of pollution its important in the UK.
