Most of these things have an aux in....
Anyone know what these are like compared to the Kitsound Hive 2?
Power Output: 2.5W x 2
10 hours at max or min volume? Seems good for this price
Shame you can't use while plugged in. Seems a bit of a flaw.

This one doesn't seem to have one
Did I miss something, it says £17.98 and will not ship to United Kingdom

change to despatch from China to get price down
I have one of these, very impressed for £15. It has a 'subwoofer' which means it has a surprisingly good amount of bass and the clarity of highs is not bad either. Much better than expected.
I like a bit of bass at supper time!

I meant how long does it normally take to be delivered?
Isn't gearbest renowned for quite a long time to deliver? (or am I confusing them for another website!?)

5w total so the same. Only differences in the next gen that I can see is the volume buttons on it, aux in port and a built in mic (who really would use the mic on this).

Really? huge flaw - no practical ability to use with Echo
How does this compare to similar Bluetooth speakers, readily available via Amazon from UK seller?
is it THAT much superior to want to have it delivered from abroad?

Have to agree. Audio quality over Bluetooth, no matter what generation, cannot compare to quality over WiFi. Amazing how so few manufacturers have yet thought of building in Chromecast Audio into their devices. You can of course plug in a Chromecast Audio dongle, but that's another thingamajig to carry around, power up etc.

Difference being that the Gen2 is far better device it has addressed and rectified all of the issues and complaints from this device. Gen2 also has Bluetooth 4.2 which is better than 4.0 as it is more reliable.

Lots of hyperboles being thrown around.

"Far better device". Because it added volume buttons, an aux in and a crappy microphone? If thats the case, thats why your paying £5 extra on a £14 device. Worth over a third of the speaker cost for those minor upgrades?

Please site me where bluetooth 4.2 is more reliable than 4.0, and where it is relevant to an audio casting bluetooth speaker where the amount of data being sent is low. Trust me, it really isnt, the difference is negligible.
Gen2 was created and given all of the extra features because of the complaints and critisicm received about this gen1 product and as mentioned already by comments in this thread people have quickly pointed out they are dissapointed it has no aux amd cannot be used while on charge etc. Gen2 is a better product plain and simple and in my opinion worth the extra few quid hence why ive gone and bought one.

Where is there any evidence its a "crappy" microphone? You have just made this up! There are no complaints anywhere as to the quality of the microphone! Read the reviews this is also useful.

Your question about bluetooth 4.0 and 4.2 is easily answered. Rather than "site" you.. Just use google.

Im not even going to bother replying anymore. of course its a better product, its a third of the price more. And the rest, yeah too headstrong.
You may get a few people complaining that this doesn't go very loud, still it's only £15.
I like Xiaomi stuff, but why the hell would you want a portable speak made out of aluminium? Just the worst material for a speaker.

This is a speaker that's 12cm long, weighs just over 200g and costs £15 inc postage.

What do you think the quality is going to be like?

I've got one which I use with an Echo Dot whilst the speaker is plugged into a power source (if that's what you mean by plugged in)
Bought this a couple of months ago and pretty happy with it. Found the BT range to be a bit questionable at times and the max useable volume to be average but perfectly usable. Build quality is great, weighty in the hand and looks nice in my kitchen
It's a pretty good speaker but no volume controls is a bit annoying. Good battery and reasonable sound quality, well built too, always found the range ok as well.

I only paid £11.50 though in December 2015...

It delivers about £15 worth of sound. It's not as loud as the Anker Soundcore 1, nor is the audio quality or battery life as good, but that's double the price.

Keep it in context and it's a decent product.
I bought this in the past the sound quality is terrible, build is ok. But I would avoid!
Had one for around a year, and it has survived 6 months backpacking in India and 3 months in the Philippines! It still works great, outstanding build quality as always with Xiaomi.
