These have been posted for cheaper before, but this is the cheapest that i can find now, £17 on amazon, around £16 for a UK seller on eBay for example. EDIT- I have since spotted them on GearBest for less than £5, but reviews for this seller are a little dodgy. The link for there is in the 2nd post though.

Ive just purchased one for my WD My Cloud that's refusing to go to sleep, i can't be leaving that drive spinning 24/7, surely not good for it! Thought one of these WiFi switches would be perfect, providing they work over the internet! Reviews sound pretty good, with a few saying they couldn't get it to connect to the home Wifi, or wouldn't work over 3g, but thought its worth a go for not much more than a tenner!

Anyway here's the specs:

EDIT- But reading reviews GearBest Doesn't sound like a good seller. I have used BangGood before and they've been fine, anyone have experience of gearbest?

Is there a rating for some of these devices? I.e is a kettle or Microwave too high wattage wise?

2000W max, i doubt a kettle or microwave would be suitable as they will require a manual switch.

Bargain, thanks I've ordered 3.

I'm very tempted in buying some of these from gearbest... would they be trustworthy?

I've decided to go ahead and order 4 of them. Thanks for replying These will be handy for some of the awkwardly placed sockets in our home.

Gearbest showing at $15.99 now and not $6.99

I have bought 7 items so far from banggood and never had a problem

Bought one from Gearbest after the last post on here and can say it is excellent (aside from it refuses to connect to my HH5, but then it's not the only device that won't). The setup is a bit finicky so follow this tutorial youtube.com/wat…=10

If only they'd make one that could be reached over the internet.

Really? I tried it recently after first installing it and had no luck. Must try it again. Worth getting a few more I think.

Yes definitely works.

Only trouble I sometimes have both over wifi & 3g is when I click on the on/off switch, the plug doesn't always respond. I have to force close the app and try again.

Did you create an a/c in the app? Read that may help but just checked the Orvibo forums and they have this external access problem popping up constantly. They blame it on "server updates"?

When I purchased I was expecting a longer wait time than if ordered from Amazon. I don't mind the wait time in all honesty. Thank you yubious for sharing the deal because the price was excellent!

Got my order from Gearbest this morning. Everything works!
