I was fascinated when I saw these kits as they have seperate sachets of dry spices, base gravy, sauce as well as a microwave rice pouch. It's not quite as good as making a curry from scratch, but its as close as you are going to get in a kit.

They had loads in my local store of the tikka masala (pictured), and the kadhai.

i dont know about these kits but if youre looking for an authentic tasting spice mix try to get some shan / national or laziza from your local asian shop or morrisons . follow the recipe on the packet but id add spice to taste ~ 3-4 mild or upto 6 strong tsp, otherwise with full packets theyre way too strong.

Poor imitation of spice tailor. The kadhai one is manky.

Heat added for the non spicefadels such as me

Tried one last Weekend. could not fault it for quite price, good level of heat, flavour and richness. My godson told me tonight that these are in question region of £4 in Morris sons. For 99p excellent value.

I saw these for the first time in Morrisons yesterday. I bought one. £3.29 I think it was.

Yeah. I agree. Forget about these pastes and kits etc

Either look in the world food centre or Asian stores for the brands you mentioned. Mind blowing results if you get it right!

Curry from scratch is always preferable but for the price, the quality and the time it takes to make a decent curry these are brilliant.

I've bought one to try over this weekend.
If it's anywhere near as good as Shemins curry paste, I won't be grumbling.

I tried the chicken tikka kit and thought it was excellent. Beats all jars. I added a bit of coconut milk and spoon of sugar and it was lush. Its supposed to serve 2-3, but I think really a decent sized meal for one. Or 2 to share with other side dishes. Will buy loads next time.

What is kadhai? Never heard of that one.
