It's only 4 months out of date now - by the time you get through a 1/4 of it - mouldalicious

The date's an irrelevance. I'd have to put away the teaspoon and get the soup spoon out for this delight. Sadly the sane voice in my head tells me to avoid.

The full glory. Quite rightly the serving serving size is 2 tablespoons!

Oh It's imported..... It'll be good for another 2 years X)

This stuff rules... Usually pay £20 for one.
I'd rather pay the extra for one in date though tbh, I've had one go off on me before, bubbles appeared in the sauce.

Just use a clean spoon each time you dig in. Or decant into clean jars and leave them sealed. The product is not contaminated, just use good kitchen hygiene and it'll be fine.

Would being "out of date" increase the risk of Salmonella being present ?

I wouldn't risk anything that's four months out of date... It's £2 for a reason.
Well worth seeking this stuff out though, it's heavenly.

i didn't think it was legal to sell out of date food!!??

As long as the sauce in the jar hasn't been opened and exposed to the air since it came out of the factory it will be ok the "Best Before Date" is only an indication of when the manufacturer says the product will be at it's best quality.

no, salmonella getting into it increases the risk regardless of the date on it. these jars are sealed an nothing gets in until the seal breaks.

best before dates are compulsory to put on products but are a guide, chocolate for example will last year's after the date. they even put it on bottles water for god's sake........and your telling me water is going to 'go off' . methinks not.

Great deal

oh, but it is £2.99 though

Out of date chocolate is rank, I'm plowing my way through some Godiva chocolates which goes out of date at the end of the month and they're not great tbh... and water has a sell by date cos the plastic bottles start degrading.
