Not expecting this to get mega-hot but for those old enough to remember, this makes for some reflection on times past, with the legend Jack Hargreaves. Was around £130, lowest ever on Amazon was about £105 and closest to this is £99 - another £20. Is still a lot of dosh but cheap compared to other sites. Hope it helps somebody.

Collection of 34 previously unreleased episodes of the show 'Out of Town', where Jack Hargreaves leads us through the idyllic English countryside, exploring the nature of country life and the importance and variety of rural economies

I used to watch this as a child. Coming from a city, this showed a whole other world.

Would love to give it some heat but it is a lot of money. Not going to vote either way.

My thoughts exactly. I would love this set but can't justify spending £79.99. Going to vote hot anyway as it's the cheapest available at the moment. Would stretch to £50 but no more.

I have never heard of this! In the spirit of this website I am voting hot (I mean, where can you get it cheaper?), but suspect it will turn pretty chilly.

Thanks kevlaw. It is pricey and not one of your usual box sets shown on here but if it saves somebody a few quid, in my mind it's worth listing. The price has been consistently higher, if you check Camel but I appreciate this will have limited interest. Have got my thermals just in case ;-)

cough cough cough

Never, ever heard of this, WHY?!!

Just watched the link above...now I know why! Go buy Porridge DVD instead

For over 20 years Out of Town was a television programme that provided a window on country life in rural Britain.

That's just a mickey take. Quote from actual series;- "Fishermen and farriers, horsemen and horticulturalists were prominently featured as presenter Jack Hargreaves took the Southern Television cameras around the country to explore pursuits and activities in the 1960s, 70s and early 80s many of which have long since disappeared.

When Out Of Town was first broadcast by ITV, these programmes soon won a large following for the entertaining and informative way that they gave a gentle insight into country life, but as time has passed since the last transmission in 1981 they have become a nostalgic historical record of life in Britain from a bygone age"

I recall that Max Bygraves sang the original theme tune to the programme - "Out of Town."

When I was at school in the early 60s we changed the words as follows-

Say what you will
School dinners make you ill
Teachers even die of shepherd's pie.
Our school din-dins
Come from pig-bins
At our school....
