I always saw these in my grandad's garden with its crown green bowling standard lawn, and didn't have a clue what it was for. He was out there every day in the summer. Close shave, bit of roll, and then did the garden!

Seems a good price for a lawn roller, and for £28.89 using the code POP15, you could have a lawn on its way to being as good as my grandad's.

Have you filled it with sand?

We wait in anticipation!, did he or didn't he.
IAmATeaf03/04/2020 16:54

Does it say anywhere what max weight it would go up to when filled?

If using building sand, about 47.5 Kg

So... What are these actually for?

Obviously not - or he's not that good of a gardener to tell the difference between a Sunflower or a Daisy!
Unless you know what you’re doing, don’t bother scalping your lawn then using this. For most people, best option for a nice lawn is letting your lawn grow a bit longer and cutting it longer too.

My lawn in a new build has developed mounds and divots. Would this roll it flat again or would I be better using top soil and relaying the turf?

Or Invest in artificial lawn?
So this is used to smooth out relatively small uneven bumps on the lawn? I have a huge bulge in the middle of my lawn. Assume I need it landscaping instead? Never had a garden until recently hence the ignorance

Spend time away from the wife and kids and get out of chores on a weekend

To flatten the ground after burying the m...-in-law
given the pressure they put down (half the weight of a human over an area 2x the size of one foot) is minimal, I don't think these would even flatten the footprints you put on a surface whilst pulling it. Might be useful for putting stripes on your lawn if thats your thing

Plastic rubbish. Lawn's aren't the best thing in the world for nature, but plastic carpets outside.

I was walking past one in a front garden a few weeks ago, all creased and covered in leaves and in a really grubby state and thinking someone really needs to get their carpet shampooer out!

Flowers for the bees and the butterflies, insects for the birds and the hedgehogs.
We are losing our local wildlife at an alarming rate, they need all the help we can give them.
