Over 50 Car Insurance - Post Office offer to beat your renewal by at least £50

Found 24th Nov 2013
Have just saved £81.50 on my car Insurance at the Post Office by taking up their offer to beat your renewal quote by at least £50. The initial price they quoted was more expensive so they deducted the difference and then said I would get £50 after sending a copy of my renewal notice. Cheaper price than anywhere else. Telephone 0800 783 3757 or postoffice.co.uk/ins…nce

Im Under 50 & was suprised that the post office offered the best quote for my range rover. My insurer , Admiral quoted me the same as last years policy £340. Post office all in was £220 wow.

thanks

My insurance on my car ran out last night, When I went to tax my car last month the guy behind the counter enlightened me to the Post Office insurance, I filled in a form with my details and told I would be contacted regarding the insurance.

I'm still waiting.

P O was £233 less than churchill plus £50 back as well

I had my Range Rover for 5 years now & paid about £500 back then. I have 12 years no claims. I have added a partner who is older than me & that reduces it by about £80 but I also have 2 no fault claims & even though its not my fault the premium still increases by about £80.

My insurance is with my partner on it......In fairness I have only had a license four years, But I kinda hoped it would be less than that.

Yeah short licence time & lower no claims will hit your pocket but that still sounds like a lot. I always compare insurances every renewal & very rarely stay with the same insurance each year though sometimes I go back with the same insurer every other year, strange how it works out.Hope you have better luck next time.

Many people don't realise that there are so many factors that effect a persons insurance, every insurer will rate each individual differently.. go on a price comparison site and look at the insurer at the bottom, yeah they're probably quoting *you* in the 1000's but they will be at the top of the list for others. Its all down to statistics.

Always check price comparison sites, THEN go to the insurer direct (preferably through a cashback site) to get the best quote - as comparison sites will give you higher excesses and the price will probably be higher due to the insurer paying the site commission. (most cashback sites also get commission but the cashback will generally be more than the difference)

This is a great deal, will forward onto my parents. HEAT.

You seem to be getting the Post Office mixed up with Royal Mail.

And here's me grinning about my bargain insurance quote of £700 for a mazda 2. Though if your insurance quote dropped £1300 in a year, I guess you'd be smiling too. The joys of being young.

So when did Royal Mail last go on national strike? 10+ years ago.
Will they be going on strike any time soon? No.

Silly boy !

Try adding your parents. When I got my new car I didn't have any no claims and had a fault accident. Putting my parents on saved me about £1300. I pay £52 a month on a 307. I'm 34 and have been driving about 16 yrs with a clean licence

Renewal quotes are often much much higher than an initial quote elsewhere

I would use a price comparison site to check prices before diving in for this

Holy cow £240 a month on insurance is insane, I've got a new Scirocco at the moment that I'm selling that's only £300 a year to insure. Next on the list is a Bentley Continental GT, been quoted £600 fully comp. I'm 30 been driving since I was 17 but never passed my test until I was around 21. 9 years NCB and zero point.
Mother goose is on my policy, sometimes works out cheaper, other times it doesn't, so it's good to play about.

I don't get insurance. I pay just over £300 a year for my Golf and I'm 21...

This guy is essentially a new driver who has a 150php tank to drive around in. Nothing wrong with that, but it's the same reasons that *most* young new drivers don't go out and buyGTIs

Wowza... Continental GT next but by the sounds of it, still living at home. Priorities?

As to the need to fill in a form with a pen and paper, presumably its mostly up to BISL Limited how they want to receive the applications/enquiries through the Post Office branches (given that in reality the Post Office have little to do with this arrangement other than banking their commission for promotion and passing on a lead).

Thanks

Well I hope you're not letting it lapse and driving uninsured. It's your responsibility to ensure your car is insured, not that of some inefficient Post Office marketing initiative. They are just collecting data and your details are probably sitting waiting for someone to enter them on a database.

Well that's reassuring but there was no clue to that in your post - it read as though you felt the responsibility had been passed to the PO. With up to 10% of vehicles uninsured in some areas you wouldn't have been alone!

I hope you got a good price. Vehicle insurance seems to have become yet another financial 'racket' so you have to play the game!

Where in the world do you guys live? Your complaining about hundreds? My insurance is in the thousands. And I drive a Nissan Almera. I'm in my 30's by the way.

I'm 34 and my renewal for a 2013 Juke was £210 this year......... but I shall pass this info onto my uncle.

Typical I've only got 49 cars so don't qualify.

I saved money by going with the post office - my current insurers could not match it. People should check them out.

Yeah I'm back at home, I did have my own place renting, but back with mother goose. Going to look at buying somewhere in the next year or two, I can't handle renting anymore it was a waste of monies. No more fancy car's when I jump on the property ladder, 1.1 M reg Fiesta it'll be lol.

For anybody with a performance car, Greenlight insure is absolutely awesome there well worth a quote from... I've had all sorts of cars with them, Renault 5 GT Turbo's, Rs Turbo's, Golf Anniversary GTi's, Audi s3's, Evo's, Subaru Impreza's etc and they beat everybody every time.
