Ye Olde Red Lion, a traditional English pub with accommodation, welcomes guests to the rustic surroundings of the Holme-on-Spalding-Moor village in East Yorkshire. The local area offers numerous walking and wildlife spotting opportunities, while bigger cities, such as York, Hull, Doncaster and Leeds, can be reached within a short drive. Guests can also take a stroll to visit the Grade I-listed All Saint’s church dating back to the 13th century.

Located behind the pub, the chalet- style rooms invite travellers to relax and put their heads down for a good night’s sleep. Each features classic decor and en suite facilities.

Taking pride in locally-sourced produce and traditional beamed ceiling, the restaurant serves up a selection of home-cooked meals and pub-style grabs. Dining can be paired with a range of lagers, ciders, wines, and beers.

It's a pity there's no dogs allowed

I'm not sure who your referring to?
Why be so negative when posters are trying to be helpful? Makes me sooo cross.

That's good isn't it?

Not if you've ever been there! There's not much around there at all. If you were in the middle of the dales or NYM then great!
Looking to go to The Forbidden Corner at some point, don't drive which will make it a challenge lol, anyone know best place to stay for it? Asking as it's another remote Yorkshire place like this
We stayed in Leyburn last year when visiting forbidden corner 😁

Yup!...Layburn is best if you are going to Forbidden Corner. By the way do pre-book your tickets as they are strict about how many visitors are on site
Stayed recently, was brilliant

Nice little village can also recommend the bakery!!!! Lovely!
10 minute drive to Middleton on the Wolds, the historic town of Pocklington. All part of the beautiful Wolds Way. Excellent road cycling, hiking etc. To say it’s in the middle of nowhere is untrue.

Haha, Pocklington? Clutching at straws there!
Doncaster isn't a city.
Looks like a good deal. But Leeds & Doncaster are definitely not a short drive away!

Outside of Pocklington ISN'T Pocklington, I thought that much would be pretty obvious. But hey, if you want to keep trying, go for your life!

Underlying point is that there is a cheap hotel offer, with a plethora of sights and experiences to be had (depending on your taste). As I’d mentioned previously the hotel is ‘within a ten minute drive of...’ Pocklington is a market town that some find quaint and enjoyable. Walking and cycling through Middleton to a site of scientific interest may be attractive to some people...but of course ignorance is bliss eh?

It's a cheap room in a dull village, but if that's what you enjoy, go wild! A plethora of sights and experiences? Crazy times abound!

Ignorance? Haha. I was brought up within 20 mins of this area! Keep digging son!

If you find Pock, "quaint", I'd feel particularly sorry for anyone you drag out with you for a fun weekend

Been to Pocklington recently? I grew up there and didn't think all that much of it for 25 years but it's really come on in leaps and bounds in recent years. Some lovely bars and bistros. Plus Burnby Hall Gardens is well worth a visit in summer.

"Bistros"? If that's progress then I'm certainly not going to be in a rush to call back in there next time I'm passing! But thanks for the heads up
Sounds like there’s a generation gap going on here??? Not everyone is staying in a quiet (or cheap) country hotel in anticipation of tearing up the nightlife as that’s the only thing one can do. The Wolds Way walk runs nearby and would be ideal for those considering it.
