OVO GAS AND ELECTRIC DUEL FUEL - 5% OFF WITH JUST REWARD AVERAGE OF £1175

Just been on a comparison website and re-fixed my energy, independent energy company Ovo have just introduced a 'Just Reward' system which allows new customers and existing to benefit from a 5% discount off their monthly bill. I believe you have to fit certain criteria but for all new customers all you need to do is pay by flexible direct debit to receive the discount.

I believe that with this discount this is the cheapest duel fuel provider!

More info below from website:

Ovo Just Reward

Ovo Just Reward is all about giving you a bigger say and a smaller bill. In a nutshell, you take more control of your own account (doing things like paying by Flexible Direct Debit) and we give you a 5% discount on your energy.

How Ovo Just Reward works

If you’re just joining us: Pick Flexible Direct Debit when you sign up and you’ll start getting your 5% discount from the off. Then as soon as you’ve had your first statement, you can start flexing the amount you pay. And if you keep those flexible payments rolling, your discount will keep rolling too…

If you’re already with us: Just switch to Flexible Direct Debit and give us your meter readings every 90 days (online or through the Ovo App) and take control of your account online, and you’ll get 5% off your energy every month.

I will watch with interest at the comments, looks good on the surface! Ta op

As a 3 year customer with this supplier I can only say that this company will change the way the Big Energy companies work eventually.
It seems to me that a lot of people only ever look at the usual suspects for energy and don't even try the smaller ones as they aren't sure for some reason. Ovo have just cut their prices rather than hiking them so just shows how greedy the other are being.
You even get interest on any money that has accrued in your account so you win that way too.
I'm sticking with these guys as they are a top supplier IMO!!

the trouble with these small companys, is they are not always the cheapest, hence they can afford to give u a 5% discount, and make it look like a good deal,I cant say ive ever seen ovo top in the cheapest deal (at least not in my area anyway), they can afford to give u a small discount due to the high prices they give on their tariffs,

remember a lot of comparison sites get an amount everything they pass on a customer to a supplier. so don't assume all comparison sites give you the best real world deal.

have to say as an ex customer I was gutted to leave them, brilliant service etc but when my fixed deal ended the fixed until 2015 blue deal from EDF was too good to leave.

I checked again yesterday and EDF deal still cheaper but ovo are brilliant

Direct copy from money saving site: " Moneysupermarket has commercial arrangements in place with many of the providers listed on the site. With regards to most product areas, we get paid if a customer successfully applies for an account or policy via moneysupermarket.com and goes on to purchase it.In some cases, such as flights, we get paid on a "pay per click" basis, which means that we receive payment from the provider if a customer clicks through from our site, regardless of whether they go on to buy or not. While we can and do, display products from providers we don't have a commercial arrangement with, the only products you can apply for directly, by clicking through from moneysupermarket.com are those where there is a commercial arrangement in place. If you see a product you want to buy but there is no 'proceed' or 'apply' button you will need to visit the provider's website in order to apply."

Anyone who thinks this doesn't affect who they suggest, is nieve in my opinion

OVO has a daily standing charge too

I switched to ovo 2 months ago, saving me £300 from scottish power. Came top the all the price comparison websites. Im currently on the New Energy Fixed deal. btw i live in the north east, not sure if its available other places. Just added the flexible DD to my account so will save another 5% annually (£40ish). Good deal!

Just in the process of switching our duel fuel and Ovo seem to be £8 more a year than eon and reviews seem pretty decent. I guess it's like any service, when offer is due to expire, star shopping around. Large companies dont care for loyal customers.

I'm with Daligas for gas and BG for electricity - looks like switching later would save me £60...

I have been with OVO for 2 years, great company, great service, oh and they pay 3% interest on any credit that you may have.

Thanks OP, I have just changed mine..(_;)

Will see if I get the 5% discount..

Still works out cheaper for me over the year. That's why I stay with them.

I'm on a fixed Ovo deal btw.

Just checked and mines £58 more a year,No good for me.

Switched and should save more than £270/year.

I have been with OVO for coming up 2 years. Very easy to read bill, they have an app where you can see your bill(s) and you can give them your meter reading on it. I decided to do my own calculations when finding a supplier as I do not trust the comparison websites. I find though that it's very hard to find the Kwh rates as other companies make it very complicated (on purpose I suspect). I just calculate my average usage for the year and added the standing charge. Each company do it different. Some have an annual standing charge and others have a daily standing charge. I found that OVO's rates have been quite constant and I get 3% on the amount I have with them, as I am in credit. I shall be staying with them. There are no hidden surprises (so far) with them. I too am on the fixed eneregy plan. (The normal one, as there is a green fixed energy plan too). If you can, do your own calculations. Thank you OVO. Great service and cheap too!

At 3% for being in interest, that's better than most savings accounts. If you've got the money, might be worth paying for a year in advance.

This has made for a good read and I'm going to see how this compares to my current EDF tarriff. Thanks metxthisxgirl!

Not in my case, signed up with them last year, got a renewal quote 15% up from last years fixed tariff

Got a far better deal from EDF

Also found OVO reticent to drop my monthly D/D even though I was well in credit

3% interest sounds great, in reality works out just over a pound a month

I'm sure heard on a news report that the smaller energy companies don't have to pay the ECO costs that have (allegedly) caused the big six to increase their prices.

Get my first house in 2 weeks, and someone I know recently mentioned this company to me. I'm only commenting here so I can find this again easily in 2 weeks, to see any new comments that may be relevant
