You might be waiting a while as I ordered this last week and my status at first said 2-3 days and then it changed to backorder.

I had it pre-ordered from Amazon and it took ages to arrive and was sent to and from a variety of different countries before eventually arriving. I don't know why it seems to be a such a hard game to get hold of.

Anyway, brilliant game, great price, heat added.

Do Switch games cost more just cos they're on Switch? This game can be bought cheap as chips on PC

Yep! It a shame because I like Nintendo's ethos but theyve been investigated for price fixing in the past. PC games 90% of the time are cheaper than other formats. I'm not going to go into the master race discussion ( ) but this pricing model does make you wonder.

PC games are much more competitive because there are some sites that gets codes through questionable methods, so I guess I understand why it forces the price down. In comparison, Nintendo lock down all codes so no one can really undercut them. But the difference is so extreme, it feels totally disproportionate.

So if you have both, it's only worth buying games on Switch if they only exist on Switch.

I understand the PC gaming structure. They used to be cheaper because of the general elimination of Publishing, Packaging and distribution costs from downloads. Given consoles are now online with direct downloads that shouldn't now be the case. Costs should be reduced even for physical copies given the reduction in operational overheads. In this instance I was speculating on Nintendo still keeping prices high even when games should depreciate...?

Ah I see. I suppose it's not just Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft are both guilty of keeping the prices of the games they sell artificially high, but there's enough competition to drive the prices down? Maybe they do it to not undercut their own partners, just with Nintendo they have a different relationship with them and don't ever discount them at wholesale? Just speculating there. How have the operational costs for physical discs gone down? With fewer produced I would've thought they'd go up?

That's right, Nintendo fill a niche within the market and seem to capitalise on that. Costs wise I meant the gaming market is thriving with the Switch being a huge hit on top of that. The only factor I can see is that Nintendo have moved back to cartridge, which does mean that vs disc some costs would go up. What I don't understand is why depreciation value hardly budges for Nintendo games. Anyway nice to have a random civilised conversation sorry to others who probably find this all very err boring ... I'll go back to my Bond villan ways now!
One of my favourite switch games. (Yes I know it’s on every other format, before someone says something).

I would recommend Celeste if you haven't already got it. It's on the eShop for a similar price to Owlboy and got very high review scores. It's difficult but supposedly a great game to play. I believe Celeste is also getting a physical release at some point in the future too, if you wanted to wait for that!

It's only cheap as chips on PC due to unwanted Humble keys, prior to that it was well over a tenner.
Ordered thanks OP
