Ozark Camping Shelter/Gazebo £28 Instore @ Asda

Ive been looking for a cheap camping shelter/kitchen tent for my family for a while, we only get a couple of days camping a year so didnt want to spend a fortune, but we do get sick of having to assemble and disassemble the table everytime we use it. After trawling the internet for about 5 hours yesterday and the cheapest I could find being £50 (the average price being around £100) I decided to wait in the hope something would come up. Id given up for now then walked in to my local Asda Living (Chesterfield) today and they had these for £28!

Comes with a carry bag, 4 mesh sides that can all be opened and is 3.35x3.35 m. Seems a great price considering the average price is around £100 and is perfect for us to leave our table and chairs set up in.

Did a quick search to make sure its not already posted, and its been on offer before with positive reviews in the comments too :-)

Fantastic price, would buy one in a shot if there was an Asda near me

Nice find Op.....
decent deal but if you only get a couple of days camping a year not sure why you would need this.

some campsites will also charge extra for pitching.. much better option is a tent canopy.
got this last year it's good but doesn't like wind. .
good find op, heat added

Because we are a family of 5 with 3 small kids (under 6yrs) and bringing all the chairs in and out of the tent constantly was a pain, we have a decent living space in our tent but it was over crowded with chairs, scooters and picnic tables. This will be great to just leave the table n chairs set up. We'd like to camp more but its fitting it in thats the problem...hence why we wanted a cheap one.
Can you peg these to the ground , to stop the wind blowing it away ? Are their peg loops

Because we live in Britain, where a two day camping trip in the height of summer can turn into a soggy rainfest at a moments notice!
Great price, hot! OP - don't suppose you can share the weight / rough packed size?

H the pack is 5kg and the bag has those handy adjustable clips for pulling that bag in. Package size approx 50cm x 20 x 15 cm and it does have guy ropes and can be pegged down (although a review suggested youd benefit from buying heavy duty pegs and maybe extra guy ropes for if its windy)

Mines orange and grey too if that makes. Diffeence to anyone :-)
This would be great for the back garden never mind camping, cheers!

then I am not sure this would be good for you, I think the front is only mosquito mesh and I would assume it is quite a low HH on the tent material..

like I said decent deal and voted hot but might not be as good on the campsite as you think, back garden hot day keep the bugs away from food lovely...

I would consider a side awning, will hold up better in the rain and no risk of being charged extra £s on the site.

Here is a link to it on Walmarts website, where it states its height as 9.65' (it actually says 9.65" but I'll assume that is a typo).

Do we know if this is nationwide or just a one store special?

So it's a 'screen house' - it'll keep most of the bugs out but not the weather!

As predicted no good for camping, good for sunny bbq in the garden tho.

Bought one last year for £25. As has been stated previously, it bends alarmingly in a moderate wind and needs very secure pegging. The mesh on all 4 sides is also a bit of a pain as it restricts access, even when unzipped and tied back. Great price compared to any of the alternatives though.
These are fantastic as an outside cooking/dining area with a massive caveat as Mr_Lovebucket has said, they're no good in even the slightest of winds. They bend to at least half their height. However they take up little space when packed and if using one make sure you get extra guy lines and pegs.

They have mesh sides so are not waterproof, but if you fit wind breaks as near as possible they are a bit more resilient. Consider where and when you will use them and the extra cost to try to protect them if you don't have any existing kit and it may be almost as cheap an option to get a side or front porch if using them for camping.

But on a day trip to the park, beach or garden for a bit of alfresco dining with no wind and they come into their own.

Had one for a couple of years. It is fine in dry and completely still conditions i.e. as a sun shade. In even just a moderate wind it just collapses in on itself and is useless. It also won't keep anything dry if it rains. It will come through the open sides and through the material itself if it is heavy rain. Bought it originally because it was easier to put up than a standard gazebo when we were camping. And to be fair it is easy and comes as a small package but it eventually does your head in with all the bending and collapsing. For last year's camping trip it stayed at home and we took one of the traditional 3m x 3m gazebos you see reduced to about £15 at the end of summer and it was much better.

What do you mean no good? It's not designed to sleep under, so that HH immaterial really (particularly for the price), because if the rain's that bad I'd be in my tent or elsewhere.

Cooking in a canopy on either gas or BBQ will increase condensation within the tent; fat splashes or embers are certainly undesirable too... I'd much rather cook in a seperate shelter in inclement weather; or under a tarp which s also a good temporary option.
